Re: Weight Watchers changing name

Hi oxox

I love my leader.  We have a great group and terrific meetings, lots of laughs.  My life is complicated and messy.I dont need to learn to meditate or breathe.  Been there done that.

By the way, they are not called meetings anymore.  They are studio visits.

@sidsmom

Apparently you know very little about WW, I eat 1200 to 1500 calories a day, and I am healthier that I have been in years, my BP has fone down 30 points. There are no pre packaged foods you might be confusing the plan with jenny craig

Uh, no.

All the pre-packaged foods & extreme low calorie plans?

That ain’t ‘wellness.’

Nope.

It’s Weight Watchers.

They have SO many snacky, chippy, sugary candy snacks

(ie pre-packaged foods) on their website & grocery stores.

I was on WW way back in 2000...and even then they had

stuff you could buy at the meetings. Not healthy fare.

The mental side of the WW program is good, but the

‘exchange’ of points to justify eating unhealthy food is not

a strong long-term strategy.

Re: Weight Watchers changing name

I read about this in the paper.  Not sure I like the new name.  People join for weight loss.  Nothing wrong with weight watchers name.  Doesn't bother me either way and wouldn't deter me from joining.  Just don't see the need to change the name to remove "weight".

Re: Weight Watchers changing name

But what the heck does "WW" actually stand for?  I mean, the letters themselves?  The weight loss program formerly known as  . . . ???

My "studio visits" are still called meetings.  I haven't heard anyone refer to them as anything other than meetings.

Re: Weight Watchers changing name

Here is what bothered me (and got me out of ) WW.

Every year they found "new and exciting research" which required them to change their calorie counting/food measuring system (often called some version of points).  That means all their loyal followers had to buy new books, scales and general WW stuff every year.

I caught on quick to what was gong on and excused myself from the hype.

That is what this new name is-hype- and a chance to sell more stuff.

Dont forget-WW or Weight Watchers (or whatever it is) is a business like all other businesses.  If all their loyal followers were free -meeting, goal weight living members, they would be out of business asap.

Im not saying it does not work for some people-Im just saying see it for what it is.
