Re: Weight Watchers changing name

Could someone tell me if they are still on a long system? I loved the program in 2011. I didn't go to meetings but I was on the site and logging my food. It was something I could work with. I lost 80 pounds but like any diet I gained some back but not all of the pounds. That is a first for me. I was hoping to go back but financially I need to check it out first. Thank you.

I have been a member of WW since 2-18 and the program has started changing, their focus will still be on the plan but it will also include a mind/ body connection and all the the wellness component includes

Apparently you know very little about WW, I eat 1200 to 1500 calories a day, and I am healthier that I have been in years, my BP has fone down 30 points. There are no pre packaged foods you might be confusing the plan with jenny craig

Uh, no.

All the pre-packaged foods & extreme low calorie plans?

That ain’t ‘wellness.’

@I am still oxox, there are prepackaged WW foods but one certainly doesn't have to eat them like they do on Jenny Craig or Nutrisystem.  The meetings themselves have all kinds of boxed foods.  They sell frozen WW meals in the grocery stores along with WW candy, WW ice cream treats, muffins, breakfast foods, cheese, yogurt, etc.

However, again, you don't have to buy them.  When I was on WW I didn't eat or buy any of that stuff.  I wanted to eat normal, everyday food, not rely on packaged foods.

The plan isn't extreme low calorie either and there are no "exchanges" like there was back in the day.  I was on WW back in the 90's and there were no exchanges even back then.

@Lipstickdiva

When I referred to “exchanges”, it was to explain how

Weight Watchers exchanges Food to an arbitrary number or Point(s).

It’s a mental thing.

Suddenly it becomes not a Food anymore...but a numbering system.

And that’s where the weight-gain returns after goal.

People walk out of there thinking if they reach this magical number

called ‘Points’ every day, yes they will lose weight...but at times

not necessarily done in a healthy manner.

Without throwing the baby out with the bath water, it’s good those

who are overweight/obese are losing weight.  That does have positive

results when it comes to skeletal issues, etc.

Re: Weight Watchers changing name

@sidsmom, gotcha now. But there really used to be exchanges done back in the day. When my mom was on the program in the 70's she had to do food exchanges.  I never really understood it.

If you look at statistics, I don't think WW has a very high success rate of people keeping the weight off.  However, I can't put that blame on WW.    WW has never promoted going back to old eating habits when you reach your goal weight.
