How are YOU!? and congrats on the great transformation! You are dedicated AND inspiring! i bet you feel a whole lot better carrying around so much less- I know how I felt when I lost all the weight-
I'm so happy to "see" you and glad things are going well. I bet you are really enjoying the grandchildren and being a Grammy. I can't wait! I don't see it happening in the foreseeable future though.....LOL. I also read that you guys are finally getting some rain....thank goodness.

It's taken a year and I still have some more to go, but I'm determined to get there. And yes, I do feel a lot better!!! I didn't know you struggled with your weight and hoping you're at your "happy" weight now.
Don't be a stranger....I'm usually in Viewpoints, Beauty or Jewelry.
Take care! :-)

Even the hardcore Paleo or hardcore Vegan...fruit & vegetables are foundation of any healthy, sustainable way of eating. It makes me so, so, so sad when I see people limit fruits....they are Nature's treat for us....sweet, juicy, beautiful, hydrating, chock full of vitamins/minerals...why deny that pleasure? "Extra sugar" doesn't turn to fat...extra calories do. Extra sweetness will afford you the energy to move more. Rare that an athlete will fuel their workouts w/ meat only. Fruits & vegetables are the foundation. They are King.
No...This is incorrect. I studied biochemistry and nutrition in college. Excess fructose is stored as fat.
Sorry. Oranges don't cause liver disease. That's just crazy talk. But yet...you STUDIED nutrition & you believe this...and have been consuming 1200 calories a day...AND asking nutritional advice on a shopping forum when you have an advanced study in...nutrition. Something's not adding up. You're asking for our advice, but when given, it's quickly thrown away if it's not what you believe in. #sorryItookthebait
Sidsmom ~~ I apologize if I did not make myself clear. I did study biochemistry and nutrition in college, but biochemistry was my minor. I took nutrition courses. It was not my major. But, although what I said is confusing, it is not crazy. Understanding weight loss is what is crazy. Obviously, we don't have all the answers yet. But...as SurvivedOne replied to my response: "I have my Masters in Nutritional Science and you are right on."
Thank you, SurvivedOne. If you can enlighten us at all, it would be appreciated.

I have not missed one meeting since Jan 9, 2013 and have dropped 73 lbs....still not at my goal but I WILL get there.
I suggest trying it again....if you are not happy with your group leader find another meeting until you find the "right fit".
I have weeks where I lose more than I thought I would, and I have weeks where I might gain a little (when I thought I should have lost). It's a daily journey.
I also believe a true weight gain/loss takes about 2 weeks to show on a scale.
Some form of exercise is important too.
Good luck with whatever works for you and don't give up hope.
I am a lifetime WW member. I lost most of my weight on the old 123 Success Plan. After that it changed to Winning Points and I lost the rest of my weight but at that time I didn't have a lot left to lose.
I hate all variations of these new programs that incorporate flexpoints into them. I have tried all of them and they do NOT work for me. The first couple of weeks I will lose and then nothing.
I think the concept of the flexpoints is ridiculous. You can either eat all those points or you can't. I don't want a plan where I have to fool around trying to figure out if I can eat all the FP, none of them, 15 of them, 10 of them, etc. and that's a problem for many people.
I also don't believe that fruits are free as they try and have you believe. They increased the point value on most of the foods IMO to make up for fruit being free. Then when people are having a hard time losing, they tell them to cut back on all the "free" fruit they are eating. Then how is it free if it's causing weight gain or no loss?
There are a lot of people who dislike the new WW program and are having a hard time losing and have been having a hard time since the start of the first flexpoints program. People seem to either love or hate the program.
Not one program works for everyone and it's important to keep that in mind. This latest program is a dud for me.

Thank you, LipstickDiva. That has been my experience also. I'm going to look into the old 123 Success Plan on the internet...see if I can find it. I've heard so much good about the old plans.
I'm about to give up on "counting" anything and just try eating sensibly and exercise. I have less than 10 lbs to lose at this point to get to my goal, but it is a just a chronic fight for me to keep my weight where I want it.

Brinklii, you need to eat enough so you are not hungry. Otherwise, your body will think you are starving it and lower your metabolism. I think this is the reason for time limits on restrictive diet plans.

I would be thrilled with 2 pounds a week weight loss. Have to give that some consideration.

I tossed all my stuff from that plan when WW moved to the first flexplan because I figured that was 3 plans ago. Big mistake. I ended up buying the 123 program materials from a poster on this board.
The very first program they were using when I started years upon years ago was the Fat and Fiber program. You had to eat X grams of fiber per day and no more than X number of grams of fat per day. That was other program I didn't care for but people had great success on it.
Good luck with whatever you do.

How did you decide on the 40 grams? Is that part of your program?

On 2/27/2014 LipstickDiva said:Our instructor figured out how many grams each of us could eat according to our weight and a formula she has. Mine was 55 gms but I am easily staying under 40 so that is my goal now. I do not count calories - or carbs , just fat grams. Easy to find on the box or container of most foods or I look them up in "the calorie king".A book i bought for on my kindle. The great thing is - as long as I don't exceed my fat grams I can eat a dessert - for instance I often make Jello instant pudding with 1% milk and it is 2 1/2 gm per cup which is a good size serving of pudding. Now that just happens to also be sugar free so my diabetic hubby can eat it as well. I also snack on special K crackers - they are 2 gm of fat per serving - which is 30 crackers. I put 30 in a small bowl and munch them in the evening watching TV or whatever - and when the 30 are gone , I'm done. They come in various flavors. Or there is Orville Redenbacher's Smart pop has 2 gms of fat in 3 1/2 cups of popped popcorn -very tasty too. Every week at class we discus low fat choices we are all learning - very good for us. I love cheerios -and always ate them for breakfast a few days a week. 1 c of Cheerios and 1 cup of 2% milk with a tsp of honey is 5 gm of fat - if you used 1% milk (i prefer 2%) it would only be 2 1/2 gms. I add a piece of cinnamon rasin toast for an additional 1 gm and I'm doing great. I don't add butter to the toast - just a tsp of honey. Keeping under 40gm of fat/day and exercising every day but Sunday I am consistantly losing 2 #a week so I am good with that and I do not feel hungry or deprived. It is simply a matter of learning a different way to eat, keeping under the 40 gms has also taught me to watch portion sizes. For instance tonight we had tossed salad - so I can have 1T of my favorit dressing (Ken's steak house low fat country french) so I actually measure out 1 T so i don't go over that.On 2/27/2014 happy housewife said: I am doing nothing else but counting fat grams and keeping them under 40g a day, and doing a minimum of 30 min a day of exercise, and I'm averaging 2 pounds a week, which is the goal of the program I am in.
