Re: Week Three of the NFL Playoffs!!!

A former post had mentioned about maybe the Colts regretting giving up a draft pick to get Trent Richardson. Granted, Richardson hasn't been as productive as expected. OK, that's being nice; he has been a "bust" this season so far. GM Grigson has high expectations for him, though. Says that it has taken awhile for Richardson to learn the system and get oriented in the organization. He has great potential and even Pagano is still sold on Richardson's abilities. So the management isn't giving up on him yet. Wait until next season when they think that he will be a breakout star. So it seems that they haven't regretted the signing at all. I hope the management is right; Richardson has been a disappointment this past season.

About the games this weekend: I would like to see Denver win because I never cared about the Patriots. Somehow it would be nice to see Manning going into the Superbowl again.

Also, I have to mention one thing. I realize that the Colts are out of then playoffs, season over. But it makes me feel good that the Colts have defeated three out of the four teams headed to the Championship. They beat Denver at home; Seattle at home and SF on the west coast. Watch out next season! They just couldn't get past those darn Patriots.

Re: Week Three of the NFL Playoffs!!!

teganslaw. As iffy as the Richardson trade looks, it looks like a grand slam compared to the Seahawks trading for Percy Harvin. They gave up three picks to get Harvin and he's played a total of 40 snaps this year and has one catch for 17 yards. That's a horrible return on that investment. Harvin's been fragile from day one and to give up what they gave up to get him and get that little in return is not good. Now he's out again for the biggest game of the year. I think they guaranteed him something like $25 million too, so they've got to hope he suddenly becomes more durable. (Good luck with that!)

Re: Week Three of the NFL Playoffs!!!

And it's gameday!!! Tom Brady seems to have recovered from whatever caused him to miss a day of practice and will likely start and play well today. It'll be interesting to see what kind of wrinkles Bill Belichick throws at the Broncos and how well Manning decodes them. This is likely to be a very close game, so if a coach can steal a possession or two by showing the opposing team something they're unprepared for, then that could be the margin in this game. I think the Broncos are the more talented team while the Patriots are the better coached team. The edge for the Broncos is Peyton Manning. He almost counts as a coach on the field. His field presence will likely let the Broncos eke out the win.

I expect that Seahawks/Niners game to be a bit chippy. These teams don't like each other and have already gone head to head twice. I just hope the players keep their composure enough to avoid being tossed. The officials are likely to have their hands full this game. I still like the Seahawks in this one. I've still got the Niners making a big mistake at the goalline, likely a Gore fumble, costing them the game. Desperation to win can make a player try too hard and when you play outside your comfort zone bad things happen.

I think the Seahawks always have an edge at home. I don't see them losing this game. San Francisco will have to very careful not to let he game get out of hand. If Boldin has a great game, SF has a chance.

Maybe Brady not practicing is just one of Belichick's tactics and really means nothing? Unless I see it otherwise, I assume Brady will play. I have no idea who will win this game; it's basically a toss up.

Caldwell isn't a bad coach and seems to be a nice guy, but I don't know if he has the discipline to coach Detroit. They have many good players, but some of the players are unruly and get into trouble off the field. Not sure how Caldwell can handle those kind of problems. The first year he coached Indianapolis he was given the team that Dungy had assembled and just went with that. The next year was when Manning was out and that caused all kinds of problems. I hope he does well with Detroit, but I'm not convinced he has what it takes to coach a team to the playoffs. I'm taking a "wait and see" attitude with this. Maybe he'll impress me.

Hi Tegan.....

I agree, I just don't think Caldwell's personality and the personality of the players on the Lions, match up well at all.....

Does anyone else think that Bill Belichick is like Faust....sold his soul to the devil, his players keep dropping, yet the Pats keep winning.....quite remarkable.....actually....even though Im going with the Broncos.....

My head says 49ers, but my heart says Seahawks---I saw some rather touching stories with Russell Wilson and he seems like such a nice guy.....

What stands out to me about these games is the QBs. The AFC features two veteran pocket passers while the NFC features two of the new wave read option QBs. If the Seahawks go on to win the Super Bowl, I think Johnny Football's stock will rise in the draft thanks to Russell Wilson. Of course I'm rooting for the NFC West teams.

Hey Brew---maybe your Rams can trade your second pick again so another team can move up to get Johnny Football---wouldn't that be ironic trading the traded pick that you traded....{#emotions_dlg.laugh}Wink

Johnny Football's physical durability along with his maturity will be a questionmark, but he definitely has hoopspa....and leadership is definitely an asset.......he is exciting and will sell tickets! I think a lot of the NFL defenses have figured out much of the read option, so OC's are learning to tweak it a bit, to use that speed and athleticism of these QB's, I hope Jay Gruden figures something out for us....

But one of the AFC teams has a bit of an edge....does having a famous model for a wife give you an advantage.....I laughed out loud when one of the ESPN headlines read....GISELE says Brady focused on the game.....has sports journalism turned into nothing but TMZ....{#emotions_dlg.laugh}

Hey Teganslaw....

And since Trent was traded 2 games into the season, he will also do better when he has a full offseason with the Colts too, and I think that time will give the coaches a way to play to his strengths....

I think your Colt's future is very bright....and one can only wonder if Reggie Wayne had been healthy what wouldve happened in the playoffs....you might have gone even further....I think Andrew missed his reliable target and comfort zone....

GARDENMAN,

I heard on Fox Football Daily that the officiating staff lead by a tough SOB is not going to take any guff and wont tolerate and won't hesitate to call unsportsmanlike conduct penalties to stop the extra curricular activities....and I hope none of the players are stupid enough to get themselves tossed from this game ...its too important....

Rather interesting and rather sad.....on the Browns front they were interested in the Broncos OC Gase....but he is leaning to decline the request for an interview, so the Browns will stick with the Seahawks DC Dan Quinn....who they say still has an interest....A Brown's fan fantasized about getting Marty Schottenheimer back....he's no 70 years old....(my Redskins should have kept him too---he didnt get along with the Danny, but he had a good start at 8-8 one only wonders what couldve happened if he had stayed)....

Oh and for OC Kubiak and none other than Kyle Shannahan (good luck with that Browns fans....Id say NO if I were you).....

Interesting article about Seahawk's owner, Paul Allen's laid back style....he is doing well with his Seahawks in the NFC Conference Championship Game...and his Portland Trailblazers are doing real well too...they beat my Spurs the other night...{#emotions_dlg.crying}

Cowboy and Redskin fans--- clip and send to your respective owners....

I'm hoping a team will trade up. Preferably the Browns at four. We can still get Jake Matthews and get another first and second round pick. In fact I would advise the Rams to trade the second overall pick every other year. We will have a championship team for years to come. {#emotions_dlg.thumbup}

I wouldn't take Johnny Football that early but all it takes is one team to fall in love with him. Your question marks about him are all valid but he is a playmaker. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

If I were the Pats, I would have Gisele breastfeed her baby on the sidelines so the Broncos will be distracted. Now that would be an advantage for the Pats. And the TV stations should "milk" that coverage. I'll bet the TV ratings will go through the roof. {#emotions_dlg.w00t}
