Weaning off BP medicine

I have a + BRAC gene so this summer when the news came out that certain BP meds were predisposing some women to breast cancer I thought I better change my BP medicine (niphedine).When we got home this fall I asked the doctor for something else. He decided to try Lisinopril but told me to slowly wean off the niphedipine because if I stopped it too fast my BP would really shoot up. I am supposed to be keeping a daily BP log and I have found that the lisinopril has worked just fine for me - BP has been < 130/70 - great news but ever since i stopped taking the niphedipine completely i am having horrible hot flashes. I looked it up in the Physicians desk reference and sure enough this is a side effect of stopping niphedipine. dang - just what I need to have to go through this again - as if menopause wasn't enough.
