Water in Ear & Sudden Ear Clog-

I have expertly managed to get swimmer's ear from taking a shower, no swimming necessary!  Now my ear has been crackling and clogged for 4 days, and my hearing isslighly effected.  I tried the OTC swimmer's ear drops, twice but no change-

You guys are brilliant... any suggestions?? Thanks In advance! 💕

Re: Water in Ear & Sudden Ear Clog-

@Skyegirl21 Had that happen and wound up with having to have tubes put in my ears after suffering a long time.  Mine was compounded with whooping cough, but water in your ear can lead to bad things if it doesn't come out.  Wish I had figured this out sooner.

My advice is see an Eye Ear Nose Throat doc. as soon as you can.  Might save some distress on your part.

Go to ent doc or urgent care. Don't fool around with your hearing.

Re: Water in Ear & Sudden Ear Clog-

Definitely see an ear nose and throat doctor.

I used to get that all the time growing up - ugh, so painful.  even now as an adult I always have to be mindful of my ears.  I have no idea why I am so prone to water in ears.

I had an excellent ent once upon a time, old school dr.,  who used a mixture I think of hydrogen peroxyde diluted with white vinegar.  Worked like a charm.  Also the hyrdogen can be diluted with water. Same with the vinegar alone (dilute with water).  Best to see a doctor to hopefully have them do a good rinse for you.

You could try ear candling?

Re: Water in Ear & Sudden Ear Clog-

I've always used vinegar and alcohol.

recommended by a doctor and I still  use today.

Just take the cap of the alcohol pour some vinegar and some of the alcohol, tilt your head and pour in or if you have a dropper you can use that. Just takes a little.

We used this on the swim team too.

If you google this it is still recommended.

Hope it works and you feel better!

Thanks girlies! Appreciate you all! I will try one more suggestion from @on the bay - Then go to ENT, if necessary... kind regards. 💐🌷🌷🌷💝

Re: Water in Ear & Sudden Ear Clog-

@Skyegirl21 - I get this once in a while. I was on the swim team when I was young, and until recently, swam laps.

I had it last week, but my hearing has never been affected. My ear blocks some and gets "squishy."

I agree you should see an ENT specialist. I've always used Debrox with good results. But twice I've had impacted wax and they have to use the contraption in the office to clear it out. Feel better!  Smiley Happy

Thanks @beach-mom ! The thing is that the wait is over a month to get in to see an ENT here in my area-

Can my regular doctor or urgent care do it?? TIA! 😎

First of all - you get first prize for getting it from a shower!  Me, I have to wash my hair 😂

Last month I went to Urgent Care for a Covid test and other crud, she looked in my ear and dealt with the liquid.  So I think that would be a good quick option.

Re: Water in Ear & Sudden Ear Clog-

I am a swimmer and was having trouble with an ear being clogged (but no hearing loss).  My caregiver suggested taking an over the counter allergy every day.  I've been doing that ever since and have not had the problem again.
