Many years ago, I was on a short walk. I was wearing sandals. Suddenly I felt that my foot was burning. I thought I had stepped on a lit cigarette. I looked down and saw that a wasp had flown between the sole of my sandal and the bottom of my foot. He got me in one of my toes, which swelled for a couple of days. I took Benedryl and iced my toe and it was fine. However, I distinctly remember the event that occurred decades ago and the feeling that I had stepped on a burning cigarette.

How ironic !  I was just going to ''Wellness'' and was going to start a thread on wasp stings--but you beat me to it !  My index finger was stung this morning , omg, it's still red, swollen and hurts like the dickens  but no itching. Whew!  I don't remember that ever happening to me before but it will '''light you up!""

Don't be surprised if you develop the itch in a day or two.  With just one sting you may not notice it.  I tried the vinegar for the itch, it didn't help me, because I think I just had too many stings - I counted at least 8 on my one leg.

Hope you are over your sting in a couple days. Funny the way they come out of nowhere to attack us!!

@jellyBEAN ...update - You were exactly right about the itching. It took a few hours after the bite to start the itching but when it came, it was 'Katie bar the door' !  I had a miserable night ...hope the swelling starts going down today. Thanks for the well wishes.
