Warning if you have taken UDream

I was on here reading one day a few months ago and someone was complaining about insomnia!  I have insomnia bad, and someone recommended this udream.  Now I find out it has been removed from the shelves, and here is the article.  If you are taking it  STOP

Health Canada is recalling a popular herbal sleep aid product after tests found it contains a substance similar to one used to treat insomnia.

U-Dream Lite and U-Dream Full Night were found to contain a compound that’s structurally similar to zopiclone, a pharmaceutical sedative. The substance can cause side effects like drowsiness, dizziness, memory loss, hallucinations and abnormal sleep behaviours such as sleep-driving.

Health Canada says it may pose “serious health risks.”

The recall impacts a number of U-Dream products, including “full-night formula,” “lite” and “half-night.”

Smiley Surprised  I am willing to bet that's in the same class as zolpidem aka ambien which is a controlled substance (Sch IV) here in the USA.  Talk about dangerous.  Sedative hypnotics are nothing to fool with.

That is interesting @BalletBabe , thanks for posting.  I did  try one package of it a few months ago but it did nothing for my insomnia.

Re: Warning if you have taken UDream

I can't even take diphenhydramine (Benedryl)  because it makes me nervous and jittery, and gives me audio hallucinations.  Sleeping pills scare the heck out of me.

I've only had truly bad insomnia during one period in my life, and that was caused by extreme hyperthyroidism.  Other times, I may not sleep well.  But, luckily, I don't have to get up and go to work.  So, I sleep when it comes.

It tends to mess with my sleep cycle, but we do what we have to do.

I've taken 5 mg Ambien once or twice a week for quite some time without any problems. Yes, it can be dangerous for many people. But for me, when used properly, it's been a lifesaver in my battle with insomnia.

@FrostyBabe1 My comment was about unregulated over the counter use. I’m sure you’ve been prescribed by a doctor after examination. Glad you have been helped by medication for your issue. Smiley Happy

I think the problem is that the stuff really works but the drug companies can't make a profit.I have been using it and some Canadian friends for a long time but no problems.I just used it once in awhile when I just couldn't get to sleep and it was after one am.

From what I read it has the same ingredient as Lunesta.  They never posted that ingredient.   Really sad that we can't trust what is being put out in the market place.

@dex  I like you just took it once in awhile and it did work great,  but am ticked off that they lied about the ingredients.
