I'm giving my spouse's dr another 5 minutes then I'm calling the office.
He has had 5 appointments since March scheduled & cancelled due to of course Covid.
Finally, June 23rd he went to the office to SEE AND GO OVER HIS REPORTS with the doctor -- guess what??? Dr. wasn't there that day...great after driving 1.5 hours one way!!!
Now today he has a "telemed" or whatever the h##... they call it scheduled for 1:45 PM ...its now 2:46 and NO CALL...
Absolutely after this finding a NEW doctor -- worse part is NO one has given him updated meds since they can't do his VITALS via Skype ... isn't that a little insane. In fact, he is still using the same Rx issued to him when he was discharged from hospital in March...
something is absolutely wrong when these doctors charge $250+ because their specialists and we get NO answers!!!
Sorry just ranting...

Sounds like this doctor has a problem and it's not the virus. If you all ever get to talk to him again, I'd tear him up....right before you fire him.

I don't blame you for be po'd. There is absolutely no reason for this type of treatment. Even moreso when it involves prescription meds to one the were prescribed 4 months ago when leaving a hospital.
Don't know the meds, but there are some that can pose danger to a patient. Is there an Out Patient Clinic near you where he can at least get some vitals checked, especially if he is on a type of med I mentioned above?
I hope you get some answers, and soon!
My best to both of you,

I would report that appalling situation to your State Medical Board and tell the office what I planned to do prior to making the complaint.
I would also call your insurance company to report the sub-standard treatment your husband (and you) are receiving.
You are not receiving the standard of care you are entitled to receive.

I came back to APOLOGIZE for my rant ... the months of "waiting" and seeing a somewhat "healthy" (IMO) guy steadily go downhill since his illness in March have taken a toll on my "emotions". Perhaps those who have "faced" these situations totally understand & ME who hasn't expected "too much".
I don't know if I said this doctor is a Pulmonary/Respiratory Specialist.
At 2:55 the doctor did call (facetime) first thing you could see in his eyes (he had mask on) was the look of a tired human being! So I held my tongue as they say.
HE apologized for the delay as he has been assigned to one of our bigger hospitals here to deal with COVID respiratory issues of patients. As most know, our numbers are high and more age groups its affecting. (FL)
He also said he wanted to take a bit longer with my spouse since he had NOT had the opportunity to "physically meet him" to review his current symptoms, test results and go over a treatment plan he was comfortable with.
therefore, he took "quick" calls before.
He went over the his recent test results & discussed options. They were not what we expected to hear and not good.
We have a IN OFFICE visit this Wednesday at which time the PA will go over all the meds/treatments so he completely understands.
Dr. wants him to see a rehab pulmonary/breathing specialist.
PROBLEM: He is susceptible to the virus or any illness with a compromised system and spouse would have to decide if HE wants to chance it. In addition, he would have to wear a mask which would compromise his breathing more.
Thank you for being "friends" who let one vent and giving advice to someone who is "navagating the waters"!!!
Our call was over an hour & for the record, I didn't say anything about my "dissatisfaction with his staff" as I think he had a worse day than I did!
thank you all!

@homedecor1 Your second response was gracious and understanding. I think you saw in the doctor's tired eyes why some medical professionals burn out. I've had one appointment cancelled numerous times since March. Being I have a hard time coping with face masks, I'm not complaining.

@homedecor1 I totally understood your anger and frustration....fueled by fear for your dear husband, I know.
Then when you came back and wrote about how exhausted the doctor looked, and how much time and care he devoted to your husband when he called....I actually got a lump in my throat.
These are such hard times. I will say a prayer for good health for your husband....and say one for all the medical workers out there, too.

I am glad you heard from the doctor. I know everyone in the Pulmonary/Respiratory field have to be exhausted from treating so many patients.
Sorry to hear it wasn't good news and hope your husband is able to come to a choice that is best for him. I understand that he is the one that has to decide and weigh his options.
Wishing both of you my very best.

@homedecor1 I know it will be hard to force yourself to go to rehab. From what I have heard, they help a lot of people and not enuf people make use of them.

Yes the doctor explained the same to us. He said over the 20+ years he's been in practice "most patients do extremely well" basically because they teach you how to "breath" and how to handle your limited lung capacity.
He is going to go but under doctors suggestion with such limited breathing capacity without wearing a mask right now where he must wear one inside this would be something to wait on.
Thankyou!
