And by the way, that's what the heck!
I was scrolling thru the news and came across-
FDA finds contaminants in popular anti-acid drugs. Namely a chemical
that causes cancer. So zantac and generics just like some of the high blood pressure drugs they recently took off the market.
I first heard in these forums that our rx drugs are manufactured in China.
this article (and I forget what website but you can google the subject) said that 80% of the ingredients in US drugs both rx and over the counter are made in India or China.
It reported that the FDA is "struggling" to monitor and inspect all these ingredients since they were sourced overseas to be made cheaper with cheaper labor costs.
I never knew that most of our medicines were made in India or China. It seems every day there is some kind of recall both in food and medicines.
Well, I guess one more crazy thing to try not to worry about!😕
But as I hear breaking news here first
(thanks fellow posters
, I did want to alert people who may take anti-acids.

Scientifically and technically, the Chinese have been light years ahead of the American's corporations for decades. They are brilliant and it shows how well their education system works. Our companies have been trying to hire their graduates away since the late 1970's. This isn't anything new. They have been making pharmaceuticals for a very long time, which the US, Canada, UK and many other countries have been importing with great results for patients health.

So many US drug manufacturers have outsourced pharmaceuticals; for example, pencillin is not manufactured in the US anymore. Imagine if a country that makes the medicines restricts their import as a bargaining chips in various political struggles, e.g. tariff wars. This idea is not farfetched as one Chinese economist presented the idea in a meeting (information from recent news reports).

I saw this story on the news, and wanted more information.
I use a site Drugs.com as a resource. I found the safety rulings from the FDA on the front page.
If you are taking this OTC, I would talk to my pharmacist first and then my doctor.

Why are people so worried about where they are made?
🤷♀️
Shouldn’t they be more worried why they are taking them
in the first place? Then work to remove/reduce that medication
from their life.
All that energy...is misdirected.

Historically medicine has always been a Chinese thing. Today many modern drugs would not be here if it wasn't for the ancient Chinese herbalists. Today their scientists have perfected the process of making drugs.
No matter where a product is made, there will always be quality control issues and the problems become more numerous when you are dealing with massive number of things, such as drugs.

Well, I guess we can worry about it all!

In 2008, a contaminated blood thinner from China, heparin, killed 81 American patients. Heparin is made from the mucous membranes of pig intestines. In China, slaughtered pigs are often cooked in unregulated family workspaces to begin the process.
The FDA initially concluded that the contaminated heparin came from a Chinese factory using unclean storage tanks and risky raw materials. But later the agency changed its view, and suspected intentional contamination.
