It really is pretty simple.
Most Americans (2/3's of them are overweight) eat too much and move too little.
You don't need to overthink it or come up with bs reasons for it.
Even those who are overweight but "eat healthy" are eating too much "healthy" and not moving much.
Our bodies are meant to move, that's why they are designed the way they are. And they run on good fuel.

Something happened today that really brought home the problems we have with portion sizes. When my kids were little, we occasionsly bought those cinnamon rolls that come in a tube. The tube contained a dozen rolls and a little icing. It was a special treat that we only bought a few times a year.
Now that my kids are grown, I haven't bought those rolls in years. However, my daughter was stopping at our home overnight on her way home from a business trip. My husband decided to buy those rolls as a special, nostalgic treat. He and I were both shocked when we opened the tube and instead of the dozen rolls there were four humongous cinnamon buns and more frosting than we remember from years ago. It was grotesque and we wound up not eating any of them.

@Vivian, it sounds like you bought the large size, the Grands. The regular size are still small, just like lthey were long ago, and come In a package containing 8 rolls, IIRC. Definitely more than 4.

I did not do the study but I get criticised here if I mention folks are overweight. Most all have vision and they can see the issue.
I know Native Americans are obese - they do not have the digestive enzyme to eat most all carbs. However carbs and three square meals have been pushed on them - they were give white processed flour and pushed on reservations in the past. Rather than starve, they made things with the flour and adulterated corn to survive. The results are tell tale.
America used to have the most attractive males and females - no more.

Your statement doesn't make sense.
There's no logical thought behind it.
Are you maybe talking about lactose? In dairy products?
Just don't eat/drink dairy products.
Sugar does not turn to fat
Sugar does not cause obesity
Sugar does not cause diabetes
Native Americans, for example the Pima Indians of Arizona, introduced to the Western diet over the past 75 years, are now afflicted so severely that as many as one-half of them has diabetes. However, their genetic cousins, the Tarahumara Indians of Mexico, following a diet consisting of 90% corn and pinto beans (chili), and vegetables (like squash), are free of type-2 diabetes – as well as obesity and heart disease.
Similar dramatic rises – from immunity to epidemic proportions – of type-2 diabetes have been seen in other people like Africans, African-Americans, Mexicans, Chinese, and Polynesians, as they adopt the Western diet with enthusiasm.
There are no exceptions to this observation that when populations of people following a starch-based diet (rice, corn, potatoes, sweet potatoes, etc.), switch to a diet of rich foods – meats, dairy products, added oils, and refined foods – they become overweight and diabetic, and develop heart disease, breast, prostate and colon cancers, gallbladder disease, arthritis, multiple sclerosis, and bowel problems.
