@Susan Louise I think in many cases they forget to eat. and can't swallow as well.

@BeccaLou Well, yes...which are just a couple of the symptoms of the end stages of the disease. There are several stages of the disease which I mentioned about in my previous post.

My grandmother had Alzherimer's for a few years before she passed away---she choked to death on food in a nursing home. So many years ago, so can't remember the details--but was told at the time that she "forgot" how to swallow.
My husband's aunt also died after suffering from Alzheimer's for many years--she just faded away--stopped eating and drinking. The family decided not to prolong her suffering and did not have a feeding tube put in.
