Re: WELCOME TO THE MARCH EXERCISE THREAD

Wellness Wednesday or I shall call it Wring it Out Wednesday!   Wring out all the kinks, aches, and pains.   That's exactly what I did today on my planned rest day.   I did 3 different stretching workouts, and 2 meditations.  Rest days are as important as workout days!

@Dazlin thank you for clarifying, the limping person Smiley Wink I hope you feel better today!

I still need new walking shoes.   I know I spoke about it earlier but never followed through.  I look at so many kinds, now looking at Brooks Max, they look so cushiony.  OOFOS are cushiony too.

Not much going on here, in the 20's, partly cloudy, and still a lot of snow and dirt everywhere.

Have a good day everyone!

Re: WELCOME TO THE MARCH EXERCISE THREAD

@bopper  one of my favorite topics to chat about- workout shoes.. Arriving today I have a pr of HOKA sandals coming-  the W Infini Hike Tc in teal blue.. I went down 1/2 size. They are a hiking ( walking ) sandal. I can't see myself using them to hike in- something about an open toe shoe- but for walking- yes.. I wanted a new pr of shoes before the tariffs take hold and the price gets even higher- of course I have no basis for saying that- but feel like everything will be more costly. I also have 2 pr, now of the stinson 7 ( HOKA) which I love- the lug sole will be great for the kind of hiking I do. And I have worn them for walking and the rec center.  My friend just bought some Brooks. I have had 1 pr. of  OOFOS slides and liked them alot. but it was more a recovery shoe.

What I need is new hiking capris- everyday capris.. I have many prs but for the last several years have no bought any- I am in the market now - Any brand anyone likes??

Another nice day and then possible storm coming in for tomorrow.  I plan to head to the rec center, run some errands , and then get a nice walk in outside.

Re: WELCOME TO THE MARCH EXERCISE THREAD

Good morning, everyone.  We are in a stretch of beautiful weather, and I have taken advantage of it.  I walked for 50 minutes in a hilly neighborhood yesterday, and it felt great.  I also broke out a new pair of shoes that I have hoarded...lol...Saucony Triumph...expensive, so I bought a couple of pairs when they went on sale a couple of years ago.

@violet runner what kind of hiking capris do you like?  My husband and I go to NW Arkansas once or twice a year and hike trails that are 2-4 miles in length--nothing crazy or overnight hikes.  And, of course, I power walk/hike the trails we have locally, which do not compare to what is in NW Arkansas, but at least they're not just flat.

I have errands to run today so will just do my core/shoulder exercises and call it a day.  I hope everyone has a very blessed day!

Re: WELCOME TO THE MARCH EXERCISE THREAD

@Ainhisg  my previous hiking capris- are from Athleta/ Orvis/ or Title Nine.. I dont' think I need to spend that  much anymore. I like them stretchy with lots of pockets.. ( zipped pockets)  I have been looking @ Amazon and may take a peek @ Costco... More loose fitting-  Also could use to work out at the rec enter too.

Re: WELCOME TO THE MARCH EXERCISE THREAD

@violet runner you'll have to let me know what you find.  I've never worn the more loose fitting capris.  I've always worn athletic leggings with pockets--capri, ankle, and for winter--fleece-lined.  I think I would be interested in trying a loose-fitting capri or ankle length.

Re: WELCOME TO THE MARCH EXERCISE THREAD

Hello, today was 45 minute treadmill walk, some strength upper body, and a nice stretch.  It's 42 here but the wind is cold.

I love talking about shoes haha...  So I have 3 pair of OOFOS sandles, and they are so comfortable.  I only wear for knock around though.  I keep looking at the Brooks Max, does anyone have those.  I like the OOFOS recovery slip on too.  I've only worn Hoka but would like to try something else with a lot of support and forefoot cushioning.  I need wides also and a size 11, it's hard to find in wide.  They are all black or ugly  I have looked at mens too.  I wear a 9 1/2 in mens, D width.   As far as capri's I also need them.   32 Degrees is very reasonable and they have shorts burmuda with breathable fabric.   I don't think they are stocked yet because I looked yesterday and there weren't any.  I sure hope they do.  I need breathable, pockets back and front and some stretch, and not a fortune!   I think Kuhls has them but they are expensive.  Duluth Trading may carry them also so I will look there too.  I hardly wear a short unless it's a burmuda, I don't think 70 year old legs need to be shown in short shorts.  I don't want to look foolish ya know.  My mind sometimes doesn't catch up with my body haha!  My friend added purple strands to her hair, haha I like it!  Be free and have fun!    I have never tried Sacony shoes either.   As far as hiking, I only really walk my trail near the house and it's a flat trail, I suppose I don't need "hiking" shoes.  Can I wear Hiking shoes on the treadmill or will the lug bug me?

Just had lunch, I love egg salad sandwiches, that was my lunch.  I could have eaten 2 haha!

Have a good day everyone

Re: WELCOME TO THE MARCH EXERCISE THREAD

Only walked 1.25 mile...twice this week, out shopping.  I know not too good...but feeling tired.

Yesterday and today been getting ahead with housework because I'm going away this weekend,  LEGOLAND 😄.

My grandson is obsessed with Legos!

I'll pack sneakers for the walking.

@bopper , I just LOVE Sketchers sneakers for walking.  There are many many types to choose according to what your doing, jogging, walking, or simply dress shoes.

I live in their sandals for the best support...and cushion.

I'm only a size 5, narrow and most of Sketchers feel great on me.   No...@bopper, don't wear lug shoes on treadmill, lol...stick with something with good support, cushion, and need to be flexible while your walking.

I LOVE egg salad too!!  And yes I sometimes must have 2...love it on Martin potatoe rolls 🙄.  Today I had deli chicken with American cheese on 2 rolls...little balsamic vinegar instead of yummy, fattening mayo...oh well, I was hungry 😋.

Just cooked chicken cutlets, potatoes are cut up and seasoned, baking in the oven.  Also a spinach quiche...hubby has to eat early...but of course I'm not hungry now...after my 2 deli sandwiches....so maybe much later for me.

Re: WELCOME TO THE MARCH EXERCISE THREAD

@bopper  Have not had a Brooks Max- but the brand gets good reviews.  My workout friend wears an 11 wide.. she likes asics. And was wearing Brooks ( not sure what style) the other day.

I would say egg salad is a gourmet sandwich these days..!! HA!  Eggs @ Costco today were under $10 for 2 doz..  I didn't buy today.

I'll do some more research on capris and if I come with anything- I'll pass along.

Re: WELCOME TO THE MARCH EXERCISE THREAD

Just got a 2 mile walk in this afternoon...it actually perked me up.  Hip hurt on the way back, but felt good to get out.  I'll probably stop in here after the weekend.   Tomorrow is a nail appt., and little shopping to cook for hubby so he has extra food while im gone.  Will pack for the weekend and have my grandson, (5 yrs old) for spring break next week....🙏I have energy to keep up with him.

Hope everyone stays well and continue your good work!
