Re: WELCOME TO THE MARCH EXERCISE THREAD

Update on compression socks ... they do not squish my toes. Yay!

I purchased a couple of different brands/different sizes of socks. The smaller ones fit me just fine and I was going to send the other socks back ... until that is, my DH asked me what I was wearing on my feet. Told him about compression socks and he says "oh, I wonder if I should wear them?" And so with a straight face I told him I had ordered him some socks, just in case, and handed him the socks. LOL. He actually put them on to go to work (they were black socks).

Weather is good, cool and sunny. Ran 5 miles w/ a running buddy. The socks did not bother me. Not really sure what they do/don't do, but will give them a good trial before summer when I switch to running in shorts. I am planning on doing more weeding today while the sun is out.

Hope everyone has a great Wednesday.

Re: WELCOME TO THE MARCH EXERCISE THREAD

Happy Wednesday!   I was going to take a rest day because I am really sore from the reformer workout yesterday but I decided to use my Pilates chair instead and do some upper body with my free weights.

No walk today I'm just kind of spent and don't want to push myself to feel its more of a chore than something I enjoy doing.

My DIL said its 72 in CO.   We're 35.

Have a good night everyone!

Re: WELCOME TO THE MARCH EXERCISE THREAD

Good morning, all.  It's 72 in Colorado!  As I've said....strange weather everywhere.  We're supposed to be near 50 today but by Saturday down to the 20s and a little snow.

@kate2357, I've thought about compression socks for my feet but never tried them.  Yeah, that's what we have to do with these husbands....think ahead of them, think as if you're in a chess game by anticipating their thoughts.

This morning I'm doing cardio in front of the tv, my favorite spot.  Maybe 30 minutes.  I got a good walk in at the hospital (volunteer time).

Enjoy your day, everybody.

Re: WELCOME TO THE MARCH EXERCISE THREAD

@kate2357  glad the compresssion socks fit..  I liked wearing mine to deter some swelling after hiking at a higher elevation and for circulation. I have no problem getting them off when done-  didn't like the constricted feel  after working out.

As I said I am choosy with my socks so I like the compression socks tht are footless.

Yes, we had 70 degrees here yesterday in CO. It came with some afternoon wind- but out walking, I was actualy warm! This morning- it was snowing when I headed to the rec center.. Not going to amt. to much- but temps alot lower  for a few days. That's life in CO.

I plan on getting out for a walk later on- and  did some weights and the track at the  rec center..

Have a good day everyone. If timing allows- I'll probably watch some March Madness basketball.

Re: WELCOME TO THE MARCH EXERCISE THREAD

Hi all.  Yep--it was in the 70s yesterday.  Today, I woke up to snow, which I had to shovel off my driveway.  I did my trainer workout after shoveling and I am glad it is over.  It was a struggle.

My dance showcase is a week from Sunday and i think I finallly have the choreography down.  My partner had to take the normal level way down because of my hip--we only have one fancy trick.  The rest is all ballroom.

Not much to say--hope you all have a good day!

Re: WELCOME TO THE MARCH EXERCISE THREAD

70 degrees? I am so jealous of you Colorado beauties for having some warm weather ... but not at all jealous of the amount of snow you get.

Very cold this morning, so I went the indoor route this morning. Did a quick 3 miles on the treadmill and did 30 minute ab workout on reformer. I haven't done abs for a bit and I felt it this morning. Need to get back on more of a schedule to get abs/arms into my routine and not just go running.

I am also VERY out of condition for yardwork. My goodness, 60 minutes of weeding and my back was really not happy. Jumped into soaking tub for 30 minutes as a reward.

Have a great day all. May the weather goddess be kind to everyone.

Re: WELCOME TO THE MARCH EXERCISE THREAD

Hey hey, today was more o a recovery day.  I did a 30 minute recovery spin and I wouldn't call it recovery at least not for me.  I am sure many would but I just do not have the endurance to get through those rides without my HR peaking...

The rain is supposed to start tonight and then turn to heavy snow tomorrow into Saturday before winding down.

No grocery run for me tomorrow.

Re: WELCOME TO THE MARCH EXERCISE THREAD

Good morning all!  Not only is it St. Patrick's Day--it is my 9 year anniversary at my work!  So easy to remember, right?

I did have a trainer workout yesterday and will have a dance lesson today.  I'm hoping I have enough energy to go to their studio party tonight, but it's a pain to go over there for a lesson and then home to eat and change and drive back.  Our showcase is a week from Sunday so I need all the practice I can get.

Weather is cold but at least it's not snowing.  I've had enough--except that March is traditionally our snowiest month and we still have a couple weeks to go.

I'm teaching LaBlast tomorrow, so that will be my workout.  Sunday is my rest day.

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Re: WELCOME TO THE MARCH EXERCISE THREAD

Happy Friday!

Read an interesting article in the Washington Post this morning about the effect of exercise on people w/ depression...basically said doing some excercise can be effective in relieving depression for many people. More studies needed, yadda yadda, on what that means in terms of treatment.

What I do know for myself, is being active does keep the blues from overwhelming me. The activity I'm doing today is gardening. Taking a break from running ... but will still get out and enjoy the sunshine for a bit today.

Re: WELCOME TO THE MARCH EXERCISE THREAD

Happy St. Patricks Day!

Weird day for me.  Mom and FIL both passed on St. Patty's Day 1 year apart.   I still do wear my green though.  My mom liked this day.

I did an hour on the reformer today, first workout was mobility and stretching and the second was full body.

Getting weird weather.  The storm hasn't really produced much other than sleet and slush and wind.  They are still saying tomorrow is the lake effect snow so will see.

No shopping today although hubby said the highway was fine and salted.

@kate2357  being outside in the garden sounds like heaven to me!

Feeling sluggish now.  I hate being stuck inside.

Spring please come!
