Re: WELCOME TO THE MARCH EXERCISE THREAD

@JudyL

Thank you. I expected all to go well, but one has to also be realistic and prepared.

When do you leave for your fabulous trip? You must be getting pretty excited to head out.

@kate2357 - I have a ways to go yet before I leave.  I leave at the end of July.

Forgive my ignorance, but is it cooler temps where you are going that time of year or is it always quite warm?

And I don't know why I thought you were going in May. Yikes, my memory is sketchy.

@kate2357 - I will be going during Kenya and Tanzania's winter season.  Temps will be about what they are here in the Bay Area.  In some places may get up to the high 70's low 80's but for the most part, 60's and 70's.  Can be quite chilly at night and early morning hours.  They wake us up early - usually 5 to 5:30, out in the jeep by 5:30 or 6:00.  Then back to camp between 9 and 10 for breakfast/brunch.  We'll stay in camp until about 4:00, when we'll have tea and snacks, and then go back out again, back to the lodge around 7:00 or 7:30 for dinner.  On the mornings that I am doing hot air balloon rides, they wake us up at 4:00 or 4:30.  Goodness be, it'd better be worth it! LOL  Some days are longer out in the jeep if we are travelling to a different lodge.  Once we get out into the bush, there is no contact with the outside world - no phone, tv, internet, radio, newspaper.  We are totally unplugged and out of touch.  The lodges do have short wave radios for emergencies but thats it.  At night you can hear hippos in the river, lions roaring, elephants munching on tress nearby, hyenas calling, and all sorts of wonderful sounds.

@kate2357 - yes this will be my second safari but this will be my 4th trip to Africa.  The other two times I wasn't on a safari.

Re: WELCOME TO THE MARCH EXERCISE THREAD

Good morning all!

@JudyL that sounds very exciting!

I did have my trainer workout yesterday and will have a dance lesson today.  There is a social dance party tonight, but it is supposed to snow AND my hip is bothering me, so I need to save it for class tomorrow.  I did call the ortho's office--the soonest I can get in is March 24!!!  I made the appointment and then told them to add me to a cancellation list just in case.  I think it's ridiculous that it takes almost a month to get an appointment with any doctor these days.

Not much to add--hope you all have a good weekend!

Re: WELCOME TO THE MARCH EXERCISE THREAD

Went 4 miles on the treadmill today at a moderate pace. Not quite running yet, but a bit faster than yesterday.

Was up early sending off dh to airport for his trip to Arizona w/ various family members. They are already in Arizona ... it's only 62 ... only 62 you say ... that's still 20 degrees warmer than Seattle. The poor lads ... they have golf and baseball games lined up and will probably all come home w/ sunburns because they "forgot" to put on sunscreen. Smiley Happy

Re: WELCOME TO THE MARCH EXERCISE THREAD

@kate2357 - I'm not so sure they will get much outside play time.  Storms are moving into CA tonight through Tuesday and there will be lots of rain, wind, cold and snow!  Not sure how much of it will get to AZ but if it's in So Cal, it's been heading to AZ too.  Hope I'm wrong and they have a fabulous time.

Well today I did a thorough cleaning of my bedroom.  Moved furniture - within reason, learned my lesson last August - dusted, vacuumed, went through drawers, etc.  The only think I didn't do was clear out the closet floor and vacuum that.  I opened my closet, looked around, and shut the doors.  HAHA

I'm now taking a break but I got my heart rate up just doing all of that so I'm going to count it as a workout of sorts.

@JudyL

Your house cleaning is what I like to do when I have the house to myself for a few hours .. or in this case ... a few days. ONCE and I mean only ONCE, I tried moving the mattress so I could clean under the bed. Holy cow, those things are so heavy these days. One of my dumber moves was trying to do anything w/ that mattress.

Re the weather ... the forecast looks awesome for where they are. If it changes I'm sure I will get texts whining about the bad weather. But the forecast for Phoenix, (below) looks like my idea of perfect weather. Seattle is going to be cold and overcast. Doesn't sound like we are going to get your weather up this way.
