Re: WELCOME TO THE MARCH EXERCISE THREAD

Reunite with your body yoga for me this morning. I can't even begin to believe what I woke up to this morning on social media so I think it's a great day to take a break from the human race. My emotional health needs it.

Off to work and the registration office to get my tags renewed. I hope everyone has a good Monday.

Re: WELCOME TO THE MARCH EXERCISE THREAD

Ended up hiking yesterday only. Did a long walk in Sat. though.  Yesterday's hike made up for it.. 1 hour straight up  across a hogback and hour  back down.  It wasn't as warm as they said it would be, but still in the 60's.  We hiked near Boulder and they had a wild fire the day before. Yes, a fire already.. I thought we had enough moisture not to be ocncerned. Afraid its the sign of the times with global warming.  I digress- the hike was the hardest one I have so far.  It sure challenged me.

I didn't think I would go to the rec center this morning, but I did trying to stretch out the aches and stiffness from a more difficult hike. Can't say I gave it my all- but I do feel better for going.

@bopper  I am right there with you about the dentist. I'll be making a cleaning appt soon.. Have to pace myself after all the eye appts  HA!

  Have a wonderful Mon..

Re: WELCOME TO THE MARCH EXERCISE THREAD

Hi everyone!  I'm backkkkkk!  It was a good vacation, but the first and last days (getting on and off ship) were tough.  I had to leave for the airport at 1:30 am (flight boarded at 4:30, but I use off airport parking and at that time of day--who knew how long I was going to wait).  The counters didn't even open until 3.  But our flight was on time and we met my mom in Phoenix.  Boy was she surprised when my friend and I came walking up.  We all got to the port about the same time and because my mom is in a wheel chair (not full time, just when we travel), we all got priority embarkation.  The wheelchair pusher asked if we were all family and we all said  yes.  She then asked how we are related and I immediately said We're cousins!!  These people couldn't even come up with a good lie.  But 'cousins' is plausible.

It was super cold the first day and the last day (at sea), but pretty nice otherwise.  We danced a lot and there were people video taping us and we had a lot of people come up to us on the ship, complimenting our dancing.  I got stopped a lot, as did our teachers.  It was easy to pick us 3 out of a crowd--2 men who could dance and mostly bald headed me.

My big workout was the ziplining excursion.  OMG--it was SO much hiking!!  And I was terrified on the zipline most of the time, but I completed them all (except one--I couldn't 'jump' off the platform, so they turned me around and basically gave me a shove LOL The last zipline was completed lying down, going face first.  It was TERRIFYING!!!!!

Glad to be home though!Super.JPG

Re: WELCOME TO THE MARCH EXERCISE THREAD

@DrKelli - glad you had a good trip.  When I was in Africa a few years ago, I ziplined from Zambia to Zimbabwe.  Might sound far but it was over a river bordering the countries.  I screamed all the way across.  It took 5 starts and stops before I could get up the nerve to go and finally the guy just pushed me.  LOL  It is one of my favorite memories but not sure I'd ever do it again.

Re: WELCOME TO THE MARCH EXERCISE THREAD

@JudyL I've developed a fear of heights, so it took a lot for me.  That last one was over a mile long and you had to weigh a certain amount to be able to go all the way.  My skinny a** dance partner had to  have a bunch of weight added--I outweigh him by 40 pounds.  I volunteered him to go first and then the guides turned around and said "Well that makes you number 2).  It's probably good because had I had time to think about it, I would have not done it.

Re: WELCOME TO THE MARCH EXERCISE THREAD

@DrKelli - I also have a fear of heights and thats why I did the zipline in Africa - to challenge myself as I had never done anythig like that before and I was determined to try something new and out of my comfort zone but also to challenge my fear of heights.  Not sure it worked though.  HAHA

Re: WELCOME TO THE MARCH EXERCISE THREAD

Mindful Monday is here!

This morning I did Kaleighs ride for 30 minutes and it was no joke.   I had to basically back it off.  Still followed when I could but not at the speed she was at.  I swear she's a beast but she's 31 HELLO!!!

Then did 20 minutes of Upper body on the Total gym 4 sets of 25 reps of pullovers, biceps, triceps and shoulders, all on very low levels, then raised it all the way up and finished with a set of squats 2 feet, then 1 leg, and the other leg.

Making a Weight Watchers Low Carb Deep Dish Pizza for dinner.  In the oven now.

@DrKelli  you had a great time by the sounds of it.  Glad you mom was able to go too.  Now back to the real world.

We are still cold, and I mean COLD.... 13 degrees this morning.  And windy still.

If you think of it send a prayer my way tomorrow at 1 pm for my dentist appt.   Major anxiety in the chair...

[ Edited ]

Hi, everyone.  Looks like everyone is well.  @bopper,  might be my device but I can't read the yellow font.

I haven't been that busy but Saturday I did a Zumba class and Sunday I walked on the track at my fitness center.  Today, I plan on attending my cardio/weight class.  I had to laugh at myself realizing that I missed the two coldest days to go out the house.

Ooh, ziplining?  Sounds like fun but I wouldn't be able to do it.  I got on a cable car once years ago and had a minor panic attack and realized heights weren't for me.  @DrKelli, I think adventure is your middle name, lol.

Have a great day everyone.

Re: WELCOME TO THE MARCH EXERCISE THREAD

Welcome back @DrKelli . The closest zipline experience I did was a canopy tour in MA several years ago. Think there were 15  platforms. I wouldn't do it again.. But checked it off my bucket list.  Zipping to the platfroms took different forms.. Some simple and not so high.. Others- whew! Very high.

It's actually raining here. I have a rain jacket that i have had for centuries ( ok-  10 years) They just don't wear out here in CO. Of course I had to get out in all the wetness... Love the smell of fresh rain.

Weight workout at the rec center today- and then lots of walking- there and in the rain.

Hope to get clearance  from my retina doc to lift heavier.. It's been nearly a month.

@bopper  Thinking you are done and up and out of the dental chair... RUN!!! HA!

Hope it went ok..  As I said- I am very much the same when it comes to any kind of dental work- even cleanings.

   That's it for today..

  Have a good evening!

Re: WELCOME TO THE MARCH EXERCISE THREAD

Happy Tuesday!

Sorry @Mmsfoxxie  It's okay on my end.  I won't do yellow again.

I did 60 minutes on the bike but just slowly pedaling along.  I am reading about Zone 2 training where you stay at 65% of your HR for 60 minutes and by doing several of these types of workouts a week it helps with endurance where you will eventually be able to work harder  and stay in zone 2 as your heart gets stronger and your endurance builds.

Yes @violet runner  ran out of that place.  I thought she was doing the water cleaning and she scaled without water.  I think she misunderstood me when she said "you don't like the doo-hicky thing that you have to have in your mouth during water cleaning do you"  I said no.  I guess that's what she mean so that then meant she had to scale my teeth.  I think next time I'll try the doo hicky thing because that's easier.  I felt it but I made it through.  Took about 45 minutes I think from start to finish.

Came home and sat down with a cup of coffee to gather myself  LOL

Have a great day everyone!
