Re: WELCOME TO THE JANUARY EXERCISE THREAD

Okay, this is a great thread. It reminds me that I've got to keep moving.....and try to stay in shape, even though it's cold out. I'm looking for a couple of low impact cardio DVD's that I can work on in the basement on those cold days.

Re: WELCOME TO THE JANUARY EXERCISE THREAD

I have been so lazy this year and it shows!  Weight gain, lack of energy, mild depression and aching joints.  Thank you for the inspiration and I do need to look at it as a gift and not a chore!

Hopefully this thread will keep me on trackCat Happy

John I hope you are okay?   Are you not playing hockey now?   Thank you for popping in.  This thread has been going a long time!  I'm glad you are still here!!

@Effie54 welcome!  We're cold and snowy here too.   I workout inside unless it's sunny and not icy out.  Lots of low impact cardio on YouTube too.

@bopper  That's a great idea. I never thought of YouTube. Will do! 👍🏻

@catmama Welcome!   It has to become a habit.  That's the only way to look at it.  It doesn't have to be streneous but it has to be consistent.  Find something you don't mind doing, and stick with it.  Do you like to walk, get some ladies together and chat and walk.  Or a YMCA or Silver Sneakers.  We all do different things, have different abilities and we just have to address them and do the best we can.

Re: WELCOME TO THE JANUARY EXERCISE THREAD

Happy New Year everyone.  Right off the bat my first thought is it's not gonna be a stellar year- just a gut feeling. Not anything I can control- more centered around the running of the country , prices for things, global warming - that type of thing.. I'll do my part  for the economy and spending, I'm sure!! HA!   Plan to coninue on my health path and do what I can with this ole bod to keep moving etc..   Will surround myself with good friends and family, get out in nature and maybe even try some new things. I have never had a facial- I have never tried piliates.. maybe it's the year to do those things.. Pamper me!

Enjoy the day.. Lots of college football on- if that's your thing. I do plan to get outside.

Have enjoyed reading all your posts, my virtual friends..

Re: WELCOME TO THE JANUARY EXERCISE THREAD

I am looking forward to 2025 and the wonderful changes that are coming!  I live in the midwest, and we are expecting our first round of extremely cold temps next week.  As an avid power-walker, in the past, I just sat those days out until it warmed up.  But I don't feel I can no longer do that as I age.  So I bought a mini-stepper with handles to use on those days I can't get outside.  No idea if I will like it or not, but if I don't, I can return it.  I have such a small space to put anything, and this seemed to fit the bill.  I hate to do cardio inside, which is why purchases years and years ago (Exercise Bike, Skiing Machine, I'm looking at you...) went into a garage sale pretty quickly.  But since I will only be using this machine when I can't get outside because of the cold, I think it will be okay.  Other than that, because of wrist and lower back injuries, I am limited in what stretching or strength exercises I can do, but I do what I can.

Motion is lotion, and rest is rust!
