Re: WELCOME TO THE JANUARY EXERCISE THREAD

Happy almost New Year!

Been doing strength training videos from a local, but online now, trainer I really like, all 2023. Bought 2 of her programs last year, with several videos you keep in you library for life. And other freebies throughout the year. Did a free one on YT yesterday, I can post a link if anyone's interested. She's Jennifer Kirsch Fitness, and I like her workouts and nutrition approach etc.

Also got back on my reformer the day before and did a 20 min. Margaret Elizabeth on YT video..just a beginner one, since I was getting "unrusty" on the reformer. It was good.

Been doing lots of walks lately too.

Going to continue with strength training in 2024, (really trying to improve my osteoperosis without taking meds!! And I'm due to take the bone density test soon in the new year.) And Pilates, occasional Yoga, and conitnue with my walks, when weather permits. Luckily, so far, mild here in CT. Off days I can do my indoor bike.

I DO have to get my eating back on track!! 12 lbs over what I want to be!! Lost it last winter, gained it back over summer/fall! Sigh.

It's not just my eating, (I'm a pretty healthy eater, but haven't been balanced as much lately)...but also post menopause, sometimes poor sleep habits, getting back to consciously getting enough daily water....all effects my weight. I've started again. NOT RESOLVING....just doing. Smiley Happy

Step, by step, by step.

Re: WELCOME TO THE JANUARY EXERCISE THREAD

Happy New Year one day early.

I was trying to think of my " word" for the coming year.. No resolutions, but something that will keep me strong. Obviously for me it's health and my pending hip replacement the end of Feb..  And something I can easily say to myself to keep me on track.. some days  are harder than others as we all know.  I came up with BOLDNESS... which says to me strength beyond my current health situation.

Looking forward to chatting with all of you as the new year begins. And see where this year leads all of us. For me, part of it is getting back on my bike, hiking, and longer walking.

  Thinking of you @kate2357 ...

Re: WELCOME TO THE JANUARY EXERCISE THREAD

@amyb so glad you are here!   I try and do a reformer session 3-4 times a week.   I like Melanie Lopez on Youtube and John Garey.

It's snowy here in Michigan now, and I did my spin bike today and rebounder.

My eating also needs to get in check.  Not a horrible eater but not a veggi person so there ya go!

Happy Healthy New Year!

Re: WELCOME TO THE JANUARY EXERCISE THREAD

I've been doing E2M (virtual workouts) on M/W/F early in the morning and I.workout virtually with my local trainer on M/W/Sa mornings. Yes, I'm doing two workouts on Mondays and Wednesdays! I'm really focused on my health and well-being. I had back surgerylast November 2022 and I completed my second 5K since surgery. I'm really happy to see this post, as it's really encouraging! Keep up the great work, everyone!

Re: WELCOME TO THE JANUARY EXERCISE THREAD

Welcome @DrHeather !

Happy New Year all! 🥳

I did 44 minutes of my pedal cycle. Currently stretching it out. It really is a workout while you read. Nice little $30 spend.

I did work today. Got the month end stuff done and I may take a complete day here at home tomorrow too. I see no need to rush back to the office and then to the bank on their first open day this week. I have to be there Wednesday for staff meeting so I think I am going to wait.

In between emails, I dyed my hair. I accidentally bought a brighter red when I want to put some highlights in my hair and I thought what the heck. It ended up more burgundy for my roots so it really is #NewYearNewMe. It stays until my grey comes back and I get my normal dark brown again. Not a drastic change, but a subtle one.

I was watching the AeroPilates on HSN and thought of you @bopper . I am always tempted, but I'm never sure if I can get it put together or if it will hold my attention. Another one for the maybe wish list.

I am reading an old health book from the library and getting some new ideas. My workout calendars are up. January is yoga with Adriene's all new monthly program. I may try and keep up. It starts in earnest tomorrow.

Ready to rock and roll and up the health and fitness time. Hope everyone had a great holiday. Back to routine! 👋 Love to our absent friends and to our present ones as well. 🙏💙

Re: WELCOME TO THE JANUARY EXERCISE THREAD

Happy Tuesday!   I will be all messed up this week now haha.

Today I'm still the weather with this cold but I got downstairs and did a 30 minute very low intensity rebounding workout, and then I did my Peloton cycling workout but kept my resistance and cadence much lower than she did, but I still did it.   For me I feel moving is best if I can.

@DrHeather welcome, so happy to have you here.   I love walking when weather permits, lately its very icy here so I've been staying inside.

@Laura14 I didn't watch any of HSN yesterday but I do love my reformer.   I started out with the AeroPilates and now I have a Balanced Body Allegro 2 with the springs and love it even more.  I know as I age this will be my constant go to.  Even stretching on it after they bike workout is relaxing to me, it's a mind/body connection.

So worked out, showered and put my jammies back on.   Don't care, just want to be comfortable the rest of the day.

Keep pushing forward!

Re: WELCOME TO THE JANUARY EXERCISE THREAD

Happy Tuesday!

I have been busy at work all week with tech issues. New year, new computer bugs and a new boss who decided to redo the entire software program. Smiley Frustrated

Anyway, I have not been to the office yet and decided I am on strike until tomorrow when I have to go in.

Today, I pulled out the step class for some cardio. I may lay on the counch and pedal again while I read for some ab workout too. I can't believe how that little cycle really does help out.

So I felt like I lost some weight already and I am down five pounds which is my holiday weight gone. Yay! I tossed everything on Saturday and went back to my clean eats and voila. Now I need ten more to really look like a supermodel and I'm ready for 2024. Smiley LOL

Made some chocolate avocado pudding and I am reading a new health book from the library for fresh ideas. Hope everyone is off to a good start in 2024. Heart
