Re: WELCOME TO THE APRIL EXERCISE THREAD

@Laura14  you made me laugh as you always do. This time about your x rated workout.!! Good  story.

  @Mmsfoxxie  Glad your car got done even though you had to wait. Yes, would have been nice to have been told what was going on.

  The power saga is over - at least for my son. Power came back on after 3 days.

 All food lost - in the stand alone freezer and fridge.

 I walked yesterday and did chores around the house. @kate2357 - good job on the planks- not easy!

 This morning was the rec center- Hand weights and i got on the bike. Did longer and upped the resistance a little.  And I hope to get out in nature today.

  Eclipse was decent  here- partial of course. I think we saw 70% coverage.

    And lastly- college basketball is over.. Now I'll try to watch baseball- whatever team we can watch on TV for free and I'll keep my eye the Yankees.

 Have a good Tues.!

Re: WELCOME TO THE APRIL EXERCISE THREAD

Hello, today was 2  spinning workouts 20 minutes each, then 10 minutes of core and an outside walk.  I'm still trying to figure out how to drop this weight.  I weigh more than my husband!   Luckily I am tall and it is porportioned on me but I don't like it.   I know the 80/20 regarding food, but the workouts I am wondering if mine are creating more cortisol because of the intensity and my body is always full of that stress hormone because of my makeup. Just pondering a few things.  Why is it so hard as you get older.  Okay done whining.

Hubby wants me to start playing pickleball with him.  I told him I'm game for it unless my lower back or knees feel twisty.

The Eclipse didn't present here well at all. To far North... But some great photos on TV!

My Tigers won their afternoon game so I was happy about that.

Keep on keepin on!

Re: WELCOME TO THE APRIL EXERCISE THREAD

Hi Everyone!  Went to the podiatrist today.  Last night before bed I took a pic of my feet so he could see how swollen my foot gets by the end of the day.  He wasn't very happy with that development nor was he happy that I was still having pain.  So he took xrays.  We looked at them and compared them to the ones 3 weeks ago.  My foot is healing but slowly. He says the arthritis in that toe is really bad.  So I'm off my feet for 2 more weeks when he will then take a couple more xrays and depending on what that shows - the break is healing  - he suggests a cortisone shot if there is still pain.  He said if he isn't happy with the break healing process, he'll hold off on the corisone shot for an additional week.  Guess there is no sense in doing the shot if the break isn't healed.  Then he will tell me these things to buy from Amazon that he wants me to wear in my shoe for a few weeks.

So on the way home I stopped by my favorite Mexican food place and got enough food for the next couple of days and now I'm sittin' on my tushy.

@JudyL

I am so sorry your recovery is taking so long and that you are still in pain. It seems like some parts of our body just require a long dang time to heal. I know it's so hard to not be able to freely move. Sending you healing thoughts and really hope your next check-up shows huge improvement. Take care my friend.

@Mmsfoxxie  - Thank you for your kind thoughts and support.  This is aggravating as h*ll but will soon be over.  @kate2357 I feel bad about boo-hooing over my toe knowing all that you and Jack have been through.  Your kindness and support is so appreciated as is @Mmsfoxxie's.

Re: WELCOME TO THE APRIL EXERCISE THREAD

@JudyL  and everyone...

We all have stuff that happens in our lives...good, bad, happy and sad. I do understand what you are feeling about discussing what you think is a small thing...but not being able to move or being in pain is not little. Plus I feel like we are all here on this thread to support each other.

I also learn so much from reading about how you all tackle challenges and obstacles. I have gained quite a bit of helpful info...like the silent dog repelling device. I had no idea such a thing was available. Like why didn't I know that already? Lol. Or having hip replacement from the back vs the front is sometimes easier to recover from. I could go on.

My point, my long-winded point, is that I am thankful you all share snippets of your life here on this thread. And I am beyond grateful you all allow me to blather about my life.

Re: WELCOME TO THE APRIL EXERCISE THREAD

@bopper

It can be challenging to determine why some of us hold on to weight when we are tying to eat well/healthy and we are moving our bodies. I have no answers,  not that you asked for any, lol. I just want to acknowledge your struggles in trying to achieve your goals.

I believe for many of us weight loss/weight gain is more than just calories in vs energy  burned. There were times in my life I gained a lot of weight due to medication and just stopping the medication didn't result in quick weight loss. And now I am having issues keeping a healthy weight. It's all a pita and part of life, but it still bites.

Lastly, we are all more than a number on a scale. We should try to be kind to ourselves and realize we can choose to be happy and healthy, even if that gosh darn scale doesn't reward us with the magic number.

Re: WELCOME TO THE APRIL EXERCISE THREAD

 Good morning.

@JudyL  Sorry to hear  your toe is gonna take some more time. The foot area seems to take longer than most to heal.I am not sure, but thinking circulation in this area is far from the heart and to get all the good benefits to healing- it takes longer- not to mention the foot bears all our weight..  If we see progess we can deal better.

 @bopper , as @kate2357  stated so well.. Weight  loss can be tough- and we should embrace our bodies etc.. When we do all the right things and see no results-it gets frustrating. Reframing your words to the positive- your body is healthy and how lucky to be able to work out etc.   Now pickleball.. I tried a few times- not for me-  Enjoy trying something new if you decide to play.

  I too have learned from all of you - some things  material- shoes, watches, etc.. Or how to treat some ailment, or just lifting me up when I am down. And laughter.. Can't tell you how many times just reading a story from one of you made my day.

  Today is gonna be a semi rest day.. meeting a friend for coffee and then going to a flower place.. just to look mostly.. Might pick up some pansies to pot since they can take our colder mornings.

   Enjoy the day

Re: WELCOME TO THE APRIL EXERCISE THREAD

Morning, everyone!

@bopper, I meant to reference you in my last post.....if it weren't for me being short, I'd weight MORE than my husband.  With all of the exercising that you do, maybe you have a lot of muscle which adds to the scale.  Definitely not my problem, lol.  I've always been on the flabby side even when my weight was low.

Volunteer day which means I have walking built into my day.  Yeaaa!
