Why not try to see if you could eat more foods high in vit D and get it that way instead. Vit D milk (whole milk) is the perfect food - high in calcium and has the fats needed to absorb vit D plus has vit D added. Also try spending some time out in the sunshine - a fabulous source of vit D .

I take Andrew Lessman's. It does not bother my stomach. After you take it for a while your doctor should run a D3 Hydroxy test to check your levels so you know if you need to take more or not. You can get enough during the summer sitting in the sun for 10-15 mins daily. During the winter the sun is too far away so you cannot get enough sun being outdoors.

My family and I are big milk fans. I have at the very least 3 glasses of milk/day. It goes in my cereal, oatmeal. cookies or just a good, cold glass of milk. A day doesn't go by that I enjoy a big ol'glass of it.
In addition to milk, I enjoy cottage cheese and will add a slice of cheese in my sandwich once in a while.

My endocrinologist insisted that I take Natures Made vitamin D and nothing else. He said it was easier on the stomach ane absorbs better than some other brands that he knows of.

That's what I've been taking. Got them at Walgreens. I stopped so that I can enjoy my meal.

I take my vit D and my multi vitamin at night before I go to bed. I do it because I take some other meds that can't be taken with my vitamins but I think that might also work for those who have stomach issues with vitamin D.

After my hospital stay last fall, I was low on Vitamin A. Started at home with 50,000 mg x 1 per week until gone. I then went to 2,000mg per day. I call the way I eat "snacking, which is pretty much no distinctive meal(s).
I takr my Vitamin D3 with my morning prescriptions, and that is many hours after I last ate anything. They are gel caps and so far no issues. I really cannot remember ever having any stomach issues in my whole life.
I have taken many different prescription meds and OTC with no problems. I can remember only 1 time in the mid 1980's where I got sick to my stomach. That was traced back to bean soup I, and several other of my hockey players ate after 1 of our games. We all got sick.
Not much help to offer you, but I am sure there are others here that have had the same or similar issues taking Vit.D

I just looked it up and it said to take it with your largest meal of the day. That meal should include some fat. Also don't take on an empty stomach. I'm guilty of that on the weekend. You can ask your pharmacist for suggestions. They are the pill experts.
I also take a 5000IU gelcap (NatureMade from the drugstore) at any time during the day I think of it, completely unrelated to food, and it's never upset my stomach in any way.
