Me, too!

I've often smelled cigarettes (no biggie) ... last night, I smelled another person (enough to check all the closets before bed) ... this a.m., I smelled a dog (don't have one).

I figure my guardian angels are 'coming through.' {#emotions_dlg.blush}

OMG......I have had the same occurrence now off and on for two months. I could just be relaxing or reading and suddenly I get this strange smell then suddenly it disappears. I first encountered this when I was hospitalized two years ago for a stem cell transplant. I informed nurses and doctors of my experience and they moved me to another room. Then the smell disappeared. Now I am at home recovered and it has come back again occasionally. Just wondering if it a lost soul that did get to it final resting place. I don't feel afraid but I know when it present. Hope I haven't freaked anybody out

That's crazy, it's been 1-1/2 years of no smoking and seriously I don't even miss it. I did smell my dog but that's understandable, he's now gone for 2 months and my heart is still breaking. I thought I had one coming but it's going to be awhile since the first litter is already spoken for.

I've been in a sensory overload too but those 3 I mentioned have me kind of concerned, hopefully I can get back to a somewhat normal life.

I walked into Macy's tonight and tried on some tops, oh my, that full scale mirror was frightening....I thought, what happened here, you were doing so good and getting the weight off and it seemed like it shifted all to the middle, my entire waist disappeared.

I know what I need, a good looking trainer for distraction and motivation....I think that's what the doctor is ordering...thanks everyone for your help.

I'm sort of happy I'm not the only one that experienced something like this....the unknown, makes it kind of scary

As others have said odd odors can be a symptom and should be reported to a doctor.

Many articles on the net. Here's just one, with sources and links if you read it in entirety:

Phantom smells may be a sign of trouble

I recently smelled cigarette smoke for a couple minutes- it was there and gone several times. A really strong smell. I thought my kids might have been around smokers but they weren't. My Mom was a heavy smoker though- so we talked about if she 'was around'. Not sure I believe in that stuff but the thought was very endearing! She's been gone since 1978.

The article was very interesting- however I'm not experiencing the offshoot of this issue!

I would definitely consult a physician about this, based on the fact you stopped smoking fairly recently.

This is a very informative thread. We never know when something like this might happen to any one of us, and at least we will know to mention it to /discuss with our docs. Thank you!

I can smell a chemical a mile away........lol.......but not very funny, as it's very frustrating.

After what happened to Justina Pelletier, I'm not mentioning anything to my doctor.
