Interesting thread. I have had this happen to me before but it went away.

Anyone ever try smelling certain plastic bread wrappers? Sometimes the odor is so strong that we have to 'air out' the bread separately for a day. Used to be that they used food quality plastic with no odor at all. Or maybe they are spraying the stores/store shelves, and/or trucks? One thing I know for sure is that Trader Joe's bread wrappers are perfect.......no odors at all. In fact, none of their packaging (cereal boxes, etc.) has an odor, which I appreciate! Smile

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).

For years I have periods of time that I smell like my body is rotting from the inside. It is so disgusting that I can't stand myself. There is no amount of soap and water, perfume that will take it away. I ask my husband all the time if he smells it and he says no. I have pinpointed that when it happens I am usually under a lot of stress.

Were your windows open at home when you experienced these smells? I know I can often smell the fabric softener my neighbor uses when she does laundry - depending on how the wind is blowing.

I sense ghostly odor occurances near the recliner during football season. Lots of paranormal activity going on there

First time I have tried to reply to a post. I must try. My husband began with exactly the same issue a few years ago. "I have a smell like I am rotting away on the inside" is what he told me. Or sometimes it was described as burning rubber. He was often nauseated by the smell. Lost weight. Terribly fatigued.Treated for sinus infection. Smell continued. Sinus X-ray. Nothing found. Cat scan of head. Nothing found but his brain. Tried zinc supplement. No help. Very long saga but he was diagnosed with kidney failure in the ER ( I thought he was having heart attack as all symptoms were present) on December 13, 2012 and was admitted and immediately placed on hemodialysis to stay alive. He was just a few hours from death. Toxins were so built up due to nonfunctioning, nonfiltering kidneys that his body was shutting down. He is now on home peritoneal dialysis and on two transplant waiting lists. Smell continues to be intermittent(stress has triggered it but not always). The typical smell and taste associated with kidney disease is a metallic sensation. He had that also but it was the "rotting" smell that so puzzled us all. Is it from kidney failure? I think so. Will it go away if we get a kidney transplant? I pray we get to find out. I am obviously not a doctor but please put this information in your thought process and use it as you wish. Hoping you are able to find an easy solution.

I have heard of neurological issues causing this.

Only 3 so far and it's been a week so I'll keep track of this continues. Just too strange.

I've been under a lot of pressure since mom is so sick and just trying to do it all! Thanks for all the information.

Another issue is that I'm beating myself for not losing anymore weight with WW, really I'm trying to watch and count but getting into that "deserving" routine and that needs to stop. I think I feel so much stress with managing my mom's house, the business, my house and everything in between I'm feeling down and choosing the wrong foods. It's not like I go eat a whole bag of chips or anything like that, it's just foods with too much fat content in them. I sub some Smart One's and Lean C. once in awhile but those are all salt.

Need to make a day for myself and stick to it.

Nan, I just dropped out of WW. I was not doing what needed to be done and have gone to low carb. Get better results. Different strokes for different folks. But this last year has been very stressful for me and it's not over yet. For a year I went up and down 2-3 lbs. Tracking wasn't getting done, more take out (time constraints) and just too pooped to pop. Sleeping is off the charts sometimes with night worries/considerations, etc. Taking care of parent things is tough since no one teaches all the things we need to know. So it is stressful. Good luck on what you choose to do. I totally understand you and the stresses. Blessings.
