@willdob3 :  I guess they expect those people to phone in for an appointment: bad idea!

@patbz

I’m hopeful that the entire distribution nonplan will be overhauled within a month or so. If that doesn’t happen they might as well just scrap the whole idea because taking ten years (current projected rate) to get everyone who wants the shot vaccinated isn’t going to be very helpful to anyone.

It's disappointing to me that people are refusing the vaccine when it is available because the sooner everyone is protected businesses can open at 100% capacity and feed their families and pay their employees who can pay their mortgages and their taxes.  Or did everyone forget about those little details that keep getting deferred.

@agb80

No one knows if the vaccine will make a difference or not.

And the trials were all done with people wearing masks, social distancing, etc consistently. Consistent compliance with safety measures is pretty poor in the real world and probably more than half of those who are grudgingly compliant now plan to toss masks once vaccinated because they have been misled. The masks and social distancing alone are better than the vaccines alone. Health experts have stated that.

@agb80 Actually, once vaccinated with either the vaccine or placebo participants went home and went about their business. They were told to follow guidelines but it does not mean that they did.

@agb80 - You do realize that all of the fast-tracked Covid-19 products under an Emergency Use Authorization are considered experimental, and all who receive them are participating in a clinical trial, right?  Some people do not feel comfortable participating in clinical trials.  If you do, good for you.  If others don't, that should always be their right.

These innoculations may be found to have serious long term side effects, like autoimmunity, and none of them have been determined at this time to be able to stop transmission of the virus or infection by the virus.  All that these products were tested to determine, in their not-yet-completed clinical trials, is if they may reduce the severity of COVID-19, for some who take these products.

Masking and social distancing will need to continue post innoculation. I am not sure that businesses will be permitted to open at 100% if everyone working there or entering is innoculated, either. Only a governor could determine that, and only if viral transmission is actually shown to decrease post innoculation.

You do realize that some people who have recovered from Covid are experiencing  long term side effects, right?  As for the rest of your post, I can't imagine where you are getting your news.

Yes, @Biftu, I do realize that some people are having long term Covid-19 complications. I also am hearing about deaths post innoculation with the mRNA products, as well as severely disabling side effects from them.  These injected products don't come without their own set of risks. Anaphylaxis from the novel Covid-19 innoculaitons is occurring at ten times the rate of anaphylaxis from the flu injection. Seizures, tongue spasms, accelerated heart rate, and paralysis are also being reported from the new products.  I get my information from certain medical professionals, and other medical/legal sources. I do not get it from any mainstream media source.

People like to make things much more complicated than need be.  The county i live is very organized.  They have set up "pods" that will be staffed by retired and volunteer medical personnel. You register online for the vaccine.  You are then notified when and where to report, at that time you are told when and where to return for the second dose.  Have my mom registered, should receive her notification this week.

Someday, when scientists discover the center of the Universe....some people will be disappointed it is not them.

@Porcelain Please show supporting evidence to corroborate your claim that the rushed-to-market Covid-19 injected products that have not yet finished their Stage 3 clinical trials have "had the same safety testing standards as all vaccines."  Your statement is false. Biologics require, and typically go through, well over ten years of safety testing and research on animals, prior to release and recommendation that the public use them.

I'm in Northern VA.  The County published a number to call to schedule for 75+ - which ended up being immediately overwhelmed - although one woman I talked to did get an appointment after wating 7 hours on the phone.  I'm sorry I would not have the patience for that.  So now you can fill out a form online and they will call you.

Kaiser, on the other hand, emailed my husband yesterday to sign up for an appointment online and he had his first shot this morning and is scheduled for the 2nd.

I am in the 65+ group and they haven't gotten to me yet - however, a friend told me that she and another woman just showed up at a local hospital yesterday and got their shots and that while they were 75+ they talked to others in line who were not that old and who were also not first responders/essential workers yet they got shots too.  So it appears to be a free for all in some places.
