Has anyone had them removed? What Procedure? Was it painful?
I would love TO WEAR SHORTS OR A DRESS. My veins are painful.
Has anyone tried to cover them up with makeup?

Just yesterday my neighbor told me that he had a procedure to remove his varicose veins removed and that it was pain free. I think it was a laser treatment and he said it made a tremendous difference. I would not hesitate to have it done. Good luck.

@Beautiful lifeAre you seeing a doctor* for them? Do that first. He can give you options. He might also advise wearing compression stockings. That might help with your pain. ameswalker.com is a good source for stockings. Also, I've been told walking will help keep them from getting worse.
*a vascular doctor, not a dermatologist if you truly mean varicose and not spider veins.

Funny, I just came from getting my hair cut, and next to the salon is a Vein Clinic, I would try a place like this if I needed that done. First I would read the reviews on it.

I just made a consultation appointment with American Vein and Vascular Institute (americanvein dot com). They have medical clinics like this all over the country. My issue is not varicose veins but is one that involves very unsightly broken capillaries (a symptom of scleroderma) on my face that look like bruises. I'm just tired of having to wear makeup to cover up my face all the time so I finally decided to go do this once and for all. I didn't want to go to an aesthetician because this is a medically-related condition and I want to go to someone, a doctor, who knows about my condition. However, it is considered a cosmetic one so insurance will not pay for the treatment. I'm fine with that. ![]()

I've been going to the Vein Center since 1998. I had so many spider veins, especially on my right thigh that I set-up a life-long maintenance plan. Back then it cost $250.00 per session. My first time it took three sessions to clear up my spider veins. Then I have to go back one time a year for maintenance. For the last few years, I have only needed to go every other year, but I have to call every year to let them know I don't need any treatment. I still only pay $250/session.
I am almost free of my spider veins even though I go every two years. I almost always have one varicose vein in the back of my right leg that needs a deep injection to treat. I take two Circulation and Vein Support supplements per day (ProCaps Lab-Andrew Lessman) and it really helps keep them from occurring.
The process is a bit painful and is called schlerotherapy. I asked the Dr. about lasers and he said they did not work as well as the saline injections. Lasers have come a long way since I asked him this, so they may be something to investigate.
There is some pain and bruising, but the results are immediate. You are able to see the spider veins disappear as they are being injected!
I have had great success and highly recommend the process. My health Insurance, UHC, does not pay since it is cosmetic.

I have not yet seen anyone. I have rope like varicose veins along with spider veins. I also have them on my face. I’m on Medicare/HUMANA not sure if it’s covered. I’m tired of wearing pants especially in the heat. My son thinks they look like worms.
‘’I have read where it’s painful or doesn’t last long. Hoping science has come along way.

I'd definitely get them taken care of. I think they can either lazer them or inject them.

@SilleeMee Best wishes. Anxious to hear what you find out and/or the results.

Thank you @BirkiLady
My hopes are high with this because previously I went to a 'medi-spa' facility where an aesthetician did most of the work and the device they used did not remove my veins. From what I understand, the removal of the type of microcapillaries I have needs a special kind of laser, not just an IPL device...which is fine for some people but not for me. The IPL did reduce some redness, but the small veins came back in full force a few weeks later. What a disappointment and a waste of money!
