ennui1-no, I don't wake up thirsty!
This was actually a suggestion that I heard Bob Harper say as well as Jackie Warner and another fitness person-Tom Holland I believe. It was suggested to drink a tall glass of water as soon as you get up so you get things moving. Jackie Warner suggested to add lemon as it detoxifies your body.

Well, there you go. It works.

In a hurry, so I didn't read all they responses, so forgive me if this is redundant. I drink coffee first thing every morning and like clockwork I have to go at a specific time afterward. It seems to get things going. And that's ok. Maybe you could start your mornings a bit earlier and try the coffee. Maybe shift your morning call of nature, so to speak ![]()

You are doing a lot of things to stimulate bowel movement: 1. the water and lemon juice. Eliminate that and see what happens, 2. Coffee stimulates your problem. Try decaf coffee or hold off the coffee till you get to work. Change up your routine somehow and see if that helps. Eat a smaller breakfast at home and have the rest at work. Experiment to see what works, but a visit to the doctor would be a good idea.

pegsue, my system is on a regular schedule similar to yours. It happens very predictably, pretty soon after I get up and have coffee and something to eat. I really feel sorry for my sister. She has to go whenever she has had a meal. It's embarrassing and inconvenient because sometimes she's at somebody's house or out to eat in a restaurant. She really hates (don't we all?!) having to use public restrooms but it's necessary. Maybe after you go in the morning you could take a Tums or two to help everything kind of settle down. I could probably retrain my system somewhat but it works for me. I wouldn't do anything drastic.

I really really appreciate you guys chiming in on this! I thought I was the only one that had to plan and create a perfect intestinal situation to go.
I have some nerve damage from a traumatic birth and although I get the urge to go it's hard to know when I am done and then I feel like I have to keep going and I'm not sure if the urge is real.
It definitely makes my mornings difficult because I have to get up so early to get through my routine. I've tried physical therapy and all sorts of tricks but still it interferes with my life. I guess what I am trying to say is that i don't feel so unusual now.
ETA: By the sheer number of views this thread has gotten I think problems in this ""area"" aren't so uncommon.
