Trying to get ready for a 9:45 AM appt. (they changed it from 10 AM). Very tired. I will respond to posts when I get back. It's the infectious disease doc this time . . .

Ford,
I'm writing at a point (Noon Pacific) where you've already had your Infectious Disease doc appointment and really, really hope it went well. Sometimes in this specialty, it's baby steps at the first appointment. At other times - wham bam!
There were 2 bacterium of note I recall from Microbiology as being particularly noteworthy, for many reasons: various Clostridia (thrive in oxygen-deprived tissue - burn victims, for example) and various Pseudomonas, some of which thrive on oil, sulfur, in hot tubs - in the harshest environments. Any Pseudomonas infection must be immediately addressed and treated with a great deal of speed and respect.
I pray you are able to receive care and treatment to beat the Pseudomonas as soon as possible.
XXX - Rebecca

UPDATE:
The infectious disease appt. was a nightmare. It was at an "old office" in a different town. Nothing like the superior new office where I was treated with IV infusions a couple of weeks ago. I won't say it was dirty, but it certainly could use some interior upgrades like paint, flooring, etc., that even if they were clean, looked dirty. Same practice, same "TOP DOC" plaques all over the walls. I just don't understand why they would keep this office open.
First of all, they had pushed up my appt. from 10 AM to 9:45 AM . . . why, I don't know because we waited well over an hour to see the doctor. This office is very small and cramped and I hadn't been feeling well yesterday, but did not want to chance not being seen by the doc, so we went, expecting the same level of confidence I had at the other office. Not.
A huge man with obvious extreme physical disabilities came in and sat down one chair removed from me. He began coughing and coughed throughout the entire time we were waiting. I had my gloves on, but not my face mask, and I tried to keep turning away from him and covering my face. My daughter was across from me and was trying to cover up also. I kept drinking my water. I made a mental note that I would never go to that office again.
By the time we were finally called into the examination room, we were both pretty upset. When the doc came in she explained there was supposed to be another doc as well, but he wasn't able to come in, so she had to handle the entire day. I felt sorry for her.
Her diagnoses of the three issues I had were negative for any infection, although she said I do have signs of gingivitis in my gums and should see my dentist. So another appt. has to be made with the dentist. I like this doc very much, but I won't see her in this office again . . . I will wait to see her in the office near my house which is the cleanest doctor's office I've ever been in.
As for the day before (urogynecologist), she did an exam and I have to go back the first week of February to get a tissue sample for biopsy of my uterine issues. They did a CA125 blood test, and said they would let me know the results. Although she was also female, she was very rough, and she also had a cough. I ask her about it and she said it was asthma. I won't see her again after the biopsy regardless of what it shows.
As someone else said either in this thread or another one, I'd really like to cancel all my appts. until flu season is over!! April, they say. It started in October . . . I don't recall ever having a flu season that lasted six months.
I still have the urologist to see on Tuesday who is supposed to check the kidney stone and fluid in my kidneys. Then back to the urogynecologist for the biopsy the first week of February. Then the dentist? Good Lord!!
Please excuse the long rant, but I feel like a hamster on a spinning wheel going nowhere.
[I am grateful that it seems I do not have another P. aeruginosa infection, which would have been a worst case scenario.]
Thank you Rebecca. Again I apologize for the long rant. ~Ford

Thank you Trinity. Some of my birthday present (organizing my bedroom) will be done today. The girls have not arrived yet. My youngest did a lot last Sunday, so one side of the room is almost finished, and I love it so far.

Thank you Toppers3, and welcome to my world . . . or should I say OUR world!
One of the issues I wanted the infectious disease doc to analyze is my chronic itching and ugly rash, including dark growths on my back. As you say, I had read that P. aeruginosa can infect the skin, which was the main reason I went to her yesterday. She sees no sign of that scary infection, and I trust her diagnosis.
"Colonizing," scary word!! I'm glad you beat this "super bug." Not trite at all, no way!
I will keep you updated after my urologist visit re the kidney stone and fluid issue.
Are you also autoimmune?

wrote:It was the autoimmune disorder that totally remissed!! (They aren't supposed to go away). I don't remember the names of the infections except the one that they had the hardest time with (they said) was an infection rarely seen and considered "pre-historic". The doctors were finally able to give me something that worked.
At this time, when they were adressing the infections, I had three lines going up my right arm, the infections having gone Sepsis. This was the start of a year of horror. The infections caused my immune system to get extremely weak! The doctors were very concerned, especially since the pre-historic one was not going away. At first they didn't think the infections had entered my lymph nodes but they had and caused the lymph nodes in my chest to grow to the size of lemons, the ones in my neck were affected too. They thought I had Lymphoma, Hodkins or Leukemia. They then did a biopsy, which showed I had Pulmonary Sarcoidosis. With the infections finally under control, we started treating the Sarcoid.... and I worked hard to build up my immune system. And within 6 months my XRay was showing something remarkable.... the Sarcoid was going away ...
I thank God every single day....
I want to answer this in more detail, Q4U. My girls are here to help me organize my room. I will respond later, OK?

I had pseudomonas in my bladder too, it really doesn't ever go away. Twice I took IV anti-biotic therapy with a central line for 3 weeks, 2 times a day. As my doctor explained to me pseudomonas can live in a tank of diesel fuel and thrive. It is very hard to kill. If it doesn't bother you, with symptoms...they usually don't treat it. (In the bladder). I'm sure it is still in my system. I'm 72. I'm sure the antibiotic infusions are probably harder on your body than the bacteria. I TOO HAVE SEVERAL autoimmune diseases...Also, I've had Klebsiella and I take prophylactic antibiotics daily.
I'm praying for you!
