Re: Update on wifes brain surgery

Still sending good thoughts and prayers for you and your wife.  It has been two weeks since hip replacement and thought I would be doing better than I am.  It is frustrating to have to depend on others.  Hopefully two weeks and we will be on the right track.

@Pooky1, keeping Maria & you in

my prayers. I agree that maybe stepping up on the checkups would give you peace of mind. Never hesitate to call the doctor if you don't see some progress & especially if Maria is showing more signs of pain. I started Vicoden last week for my back/hip/knee issues
Very little if any relief. Prednisone didn't clear up enough inflammation. Tomorrow getting a shot iny lower back which may give more direct comfort. Both surgeon & pain doc recommend this to try to avoid surgery, to include treating a bulging disc. When it rains it pours.

I am praying that all of you kind folks suffering find relief soon.

@Pooky1, keep the faith. You are such a blessing to Maria & her family. Thank you for the updates.

Re: Update on wifes brain surgery

Very sorry to hear that your wife's recovery is not going as quickly and as well as hoped!  Everyone heals at a different rate and I'm sure this doesn't mean that anything is wrong. I know for myself, I take a long time to get over anything.  It gets depressing and makes you worry but try to be positive and I am sure things will get better soon!  Pain pills are not very good with me either.  I tend to get very sick from them and have very little good results.  Hopefully the the new medication will have a much better result!  Blessings to you both!

Re: Update on wifes brain surgery

@Pooky1   I am so sorry that your wife is still having pain.  I am wondering if one of the reasons is that she isn't taking her pain medicine as directed.  She needs to take it exactly as directed to keep up with the pain.  She can't just take it when she's experiencing the pain.

I hope she will start taking the oxycodone and muscle relaxers on the schedule that the doctor prescribed.  How did she crack her ribs?  I'm so sorry you all are going through this.

I haven't commented before but have read your posts and prayed for Maria.

They figure ribs got messed up when she got flipped upside down after she was knocked out. As far as pain pills she always have problems with pain pills. In the past she has got fhetenal  and another super strong pain med. And they didn't work on her pain either. I had  said her next follow up appointment is in January. What I forgot mention is there going to keep an eye on how well she's doing and there going to have her send pictures of her head to keep track of how she's healing. I have to take a picture of her head on Monday to send to doctor. And probably more often.

Re: Update on wifes brain surgery

@Pooky1, That is a good choice to have some "Virtual" ways to keep in touch with doctors. Those photos are a good option. Keep on going one day at a time. Bless you both.

Had my Cortisone back shot. Not as bad as I dreamed of. Staff were super nice - everything taken care of with a smile.

I will take my own advice & take it slow. Have a good weekend. Cold, rainy windy here. Time for soup & grilled cheese sandwiches.
