The latest I have on my wife. Her doctors(Gastro/Bariatric) decided to do the Endoscopic type procedure. Since it is not "life threatening", and there is only 1 doctor that Specializes in this procedure, they are not doing it today because of the Holiday.

A high level of Bilirubin was found in her blood test, and that is why they suspect it could be a liver infection problem. Her latest reading showed this level had decreased, which is good, but still need to test further.

Gastro doctor will do Endo Test first, and if necessary the Gastro doctor will do the more invasive Procedure for this issue. She is on a Clear Liquid *Diet(their word not one I use) until the source is confirmed and hopefully rules out more surgery.

Thank you everyone for your kind thoughts/prayers and comments. It is very greatly appreciated by my wife and myself. To @goldensrbest, this problem is not related to any of her surgeries, not at this point.

I've had many endoscopies, in fact I was having one every six months for a while.  It is considered a minor procedure, but remember, a famous person died from one a few years ago.

The last one I had my heart rate went down to 40 and they had to stop the propofol.  I felt the rest of the procedure as they ended it and that was no minor pain.

Just don't take it for granted.  It can be a simple one and she will probably go through it just fine . . . but don't take it for granted.

@LilacTree

Hello my friend

I have lost count of the number of Endo's I have had since my 1st one, which showed Barrett's Esophagas. Every 3 months for 2 years/every 6 months for, I don't remember how many years, then to what they are now, once a year.

This procedure is not an Endoscopy. It is done in a similar manner, but that is where this Specialist comes into this. I haven't heard what it is called, and my wife forgot what our Gastro Doctor called it. With all the Endo's/Colonoscopy's/Double Balloon Enteroscopy's etc, I have nor will ever take them lightly. Any type of invasive procedure is a risk, some moreso than others, and my wife and I both look at each one the same.

Pretty much my whole life I have taken nothing for granted. My mother drummed that into all of our heads as far back as I can remember. She always told us to "get the best you can out of life, but never forget where you started your journey". I have not and will not ever let myself take anything, even tomorrow for granted.

Always good hearing from you under any circumstances. Most of my thoughts are with my wife, but I never forget my friends and their struggles. Hope you are doing as well as expected with all your many health issues.

My health and fitness is the best it has been in many years. My body however is fairly beat up from doing the activities I love doing. It still functions better than most, 79 year old men (will be that age in about a week),and I have no intentions of quitting what I love doing, until I physically cannot.

Thank you for your concern for my wife, it means very much to me.

@hckynut, so glad to hear that there is nothing life threatening.  I hope that everything goes well for her in the next few days and you will be reporting back that she is home and feeling much better.

@hckynut

Obviously, I misunderstood John.  I'm so sorry.  My excuse is that I have always taken endoscopies and all the other tests I have had for granted . . . because if they worked before, they would work again . . . I guess was my philosophy.  And lately that is not happening.  I would attribute it to my age, now at 80, and the fact that my health issues are increasing, which is to be expected, I guess.

My thoughts are with you and your long suffering wife.  You folks are up in age also, and it's certainly not "the golden years," although you keep trying to make them so . . . and I give you kudos for that.  I wish I had your fortitude.

I sincerely hope everything goes well.  It would be nice to have at least one year where one of you does not have to suffer.  My best to both of you.  ~Ford
