Re: Update on cataract eye surgery

@Shelbelle : I had to pay $90 for 2 bottles of the compound drops.

I am so confused and will call them to go over the financial details again.

Re: Update on cataract eye surgery

The PanOpix lens is a trifocal lens.  It was offered to my husband for $2000 an eye.

He just went with the standard lens and wears glasses.

They are expensive, but $7000 is a wow!

Re: Update on cataract eye surgery

@Carmie : I don't remember anything said about trifocal lens . Took me forever with bifocal. Need to call.

My friend that had the surgery said the lens were $2700 each but I was  told $3595 each. But I was worn out and really couldn't see and back really hurting.
 Thank you.

Re: Update on cataract eye surgery

@SouthernBee Wishing you all the very best!  I had both eyes done this year and I am thrilled with the results!  I wish the very same for you.  Those drops drove me batty so I set an alarm on my phone to remind me.  One of my customers bough me a magnifying glass in case I needed it!  I thought that was too cute and actuallyI was reading a pill bottle directions and needed it!  Thanks to them!!

Re: Update on cataract eye surgery

@Franklinbell : Thank you. Thanks for sharing your experience with wonderful results.

So thoughtful for someone to give you the magnifying glass but I have one and still struggling to see.
So frustrating during church service. I have a giant print bible that I purchased years ago and can't read the print.

I struggle with eye drops because I have dry eyes and my poor DH not much help with the drops. Good suggestion to use the phone alarm for the eye drops.❤️

Re: Update on cataract eye surgery

Hi Y'all. The eye center returned my call this morning. She stated that I purchased the cataract lens that the doctor said would be best for me. She said they are trifocals with no lines and since I have been wearing bifocals with no lines should be no difference.

She stated the forms she gave me with the estimation of cost coverage is very confusing. She verified that I have very good insurance and everything else related to the surgery would be covered including the anesthesia with no copay for me.

She stated the price my friend quoted for the cataract lens was for the next option but not the one paid by Medicare and other insurance.

I feel so much better. Everyone  decides what's best for them.

Re: Update on cataract eye surgery

I had mine done in 2018. $6000. The perfect vision part only lasts about 6 years. Then you need glasses again and dry eye drops for life.

Re: Update on cataract eye surgery

Just to clarify, I paid $40 each time for the compounded drops so a total of $80, worth every penny.

Re: Update on cataract eye surgery

I had both eyes done two weeks apart....or so it was supposed to be. I was supposed to have my 2nd eye done the day everything shut down for covid. I had to wait 3 months before they could do it. I was so glad when it was done. It made a real difference for me.

Re: Update on cataract eye surgery

@highmaintenancejan : That was the price in 2018? WOW. Nothing mentioned about lasting only 6 years. Thanks for the info.
