Update as of 4/27/16

[ Edited ]

Had Pandanoscopy, which is both a Colonoscopy and Endoscopy in 1 procedure. Mandatory Gallon of Colon Cleaning GoLytely, which for me is Gallon #20 since 2008.

Procedure now is not done using Versed and Fentynol as the Anesthesia, which did not require the presence of an Anesthesiologist. Why? One thing I know for sure, these Medical Specialist do not work for free, as my nephew is an Anesthesiologist. Draw your own conclusions from that comment of mine.

I have heard some people wake up during their Colonoscopy with the Fentynol/Versed Anesthesia, but? I had Propofol thus the Anesthesiologist, and I woke up this morning during the Colonoscopy. I however like watching procedures on the monitors when possible. So I am not sure again, why Propofol any why the Anesthesiologist?

My Gastro Doctor said she found 3 bleeds in my Right Colon, the same area as in 2008 and 2011, when my Colonoscopy numbers reached double digit numbers. The Titanium Clips placed there in 2011 were gone, thus the bleeding once again. She Lasered these 3 bleeding areas of my Right Colon.

Now I am staying another day and having a blood draw every 6 hours to make sure my Hemoglobin levels do not drop, and stay well above the 10 number for me, which is the minimum number my Cardiologist said is safe for my twice damaged heart muscle.

My Cardiologist is satisfied with my heart function so I will just continue my present heart maintenance program and medications.

I know this is a very long and detailed post update. Those that know me well know this is nothing new for me. Sometimes I detail medical procedures I have had because many others here find it can help them understand the Colonoscopy and Endoscopy procedures.

If you have made it this far I guess you are curious or interested or both. I want to thank everyone for their thoughts/prayers and well wishes for my wife and myself. I cannot express in mere words how much this has meant and means to both of us.

My best to all of you, and if you want to ask me anything about these Medical procedures, I would be happy to answer any that are in my realm of Medical knowledge.

A very thankful and appreciative,   hckynut(john)

It may be nothing new to you (as you said), and I've never gone through it myself, but I can't imagine it gets any easier or any less scary. You have so many friends who send you good wishes and also to your wife, Cindy.

Take good care and thanks for keeping us updated. There are a lot of good people rooting for you!

Happy to see you're well enough to post, John! Thank you for letting us know how you are. I hope that after this you and your wife don't have to see the inside of the hospital for quite some time.

Happy to hear they were able to get "in and out" and find the problem.  Sounds like they took care of it.  Next time I get my colonoscopy I am getting anesthesia.  Whatever they used on me did not work.  My doctor said he gave me the highest dose he could so, needless to say, I am going for an anesthesiologist when my 4yrs. is up!   I'll keep the prayers going.  Thanks for keeping us posted.  I appreciate it.

Hello, John!  I'm glad to see you're feeling well enough to post an update.  I hope that they've managed to "sort things out" and that you can return home soon.

My husband was in hospital unexpectedly at the end of last year with "severe anemia".  He was admitted for four days and they kept taking blood samples after blood samples until I finally said "He's already dangerously anemic.  You're not going to leave him ANY."  They said "Don't worry...we'll give it back!"  Gotta have a sense of humor (and a deep wallet).

(ETA:  He also complained that they kept coming in every hour and waking him up to "see how he was doing"!  He was glad to get home so he could get some rest.)
