It has been 6 long weeks of home infusions and in the next 1/2 hour the nurse should be here to remove the line, he still has 90 days of oral antibiotics to take, but things are looking up.

For those who are not aware, he had a post op infection back in June, he was in the hospital for 6 days and has been home since. the repair of the greater trocanter failed, but he can walk, and started PT last week

He should be able to go back to work in the next 3-4 weeks.

Re: Update Hubby's Picc Line

There was a time this would all have been done in a hospital.  People would spend the whole time on IV antibiotics in the hospital.

So at least people can do some of the treatment at home.

Wishing you both well.

I am glad he is doing better and will pray for a wonderful next 90 days of taking antibiotics and PT.  Poor guy, he went through a lot.

Home infusion is a lot better at home than it is being in the hospital.  My daughter has MS and has been there a few times.  It is no picnic.

I remember when I had to manage my DHs  p icc line (no fun and sometimes a little scary).

@I am still oxox  Good to hear that this experience is coming to a close.  Must have be a challenge and now both of you can breathe a little easier.  Take good care of yourself as well as you have been with hubby.

He has been in the hospital 3 times since March, hip surgery 1 night, treatment of the fracture 1 night, infection and removal of the hardware to treat the fracture, and drainage of the infection, 6 nights

I am glad to hear your husband is doing better.  It sounds like it's been a long haul for him.  I am praying he will continue to improve with each passing day.
