My wife probably will be having brain surgery for and I'm not sure what its call but fluid isn't draining from back of her head in the brain. Its causing migraine headaches, eye problems, numb tingly hands and feet and a bunch of other things. Has anyone had anything like this or know of someone that has dealt with anything like things?

Prayers for your wife's full recovery. Sounds like they are placing a stent to drain the fluid. I don't personally know anyone who's had these symptoms or surgery but make sure you speak to the doctor for her post op tx plan and follow up.  God Bless

@Pooky1

This link is to JohnsHopkins in Boston.  There appears to be a lot of info on it regarding various types of shunts, procedures, risks, etc.  Good luck to  you both.  You may have to copy and paste this link to your browser.

@Pooky1   I have heard of babies/children who have a shunt inserted for the draining.  I wish the best results for your wife.

Re: Upcoming brain surgury

[ Edited ]

@Pooky1   Just three weeks ago, a close friend who lives in New York state had a shunt put in his brain to drain fluid.  Prior to seeing this neuro-surgeon in Albany who did the surgery, he was having a lot of problems with balance, walking, memory, incontinence,  etc.  He went to a few local neurologists and they had him doing PT and a bunch of other things but never diagnosed him with possible fluid in his brain.  It wasn't until, believe it or not, the PT said he wasn't getting anything out of the sessions and suggested he make an appointment with the neuro-surgeon in Albany.   Several tests were done and, sure enough, it was found that he needed a shunt.

Surgery was done three weeks ago and already his balance and walking have greatly improved.  Specialist told him some of the other issues will take a little longer to resolve.  He also has recently started PT.  His first followup appointment with the neuro-surgeon is the first week in August.

Make sure you have a very qualified neurosurgeon who has done plenty of these operations.  Best wishes to your wife.
