I recently had a root canal and a crown put on one of the largest bottom molar. Since then, the tooth has a slight 'loose' feeling when I eat on it and when I floss around it.
Anyone experience this? Do you think it means the underlying tooth is weak and will be lost?? Am I looking at an implant in the future?
Thanks for any opinions or thoughts! Have a good day all!

@Skyegirl21 I strongly suggest you make a follow-up appointment with the dentist who did the work. di

That doesn't sound right. Call your dentist office to discuss and get an appointment.

@Skyegirl21 , sorry you're experiencing this. I had something similar happen, the tooth root had cracked under the crown and I had to have a tooth implant, also a bottom molar. It was a long and painful experience but mostly the wait because it happened in the midst of covid. I love my dentist and have even fallen asleep while he was working on me in the past. The implant was done beautifully and I've not had any problems at all since it was done, a couple years ago now. Good luck and I hope yours, if it needs an implant, will be painless. If it's a loose crown and no pain involved, it may just need to have the adhesive replaced.

I pretty much had the same thing. I had a bridge and the back tooth cracked and caused me to have a toothache. The dentist removed the bridge, pulled the tooth and I had to have a tooth implant. Also during Covid so the wait was longer. The tooth implant did not hurt (only my wallet) but it required several visits and because of Covid it took about 7 months.

Yes, I've had that problem when getting a crown on a molar. I went back to the dentist and had to have another one made. It didn't cost me anything, just had to go through the ordeal again.
Actually, it's happened to me more than once. Was it a Cerac crown that your dentist made in his office or a crown that was sent to a dental lab and you had to wait for it to come in?
I've had a couple Cerac all ceramic crowns and will never do that again. They are not as good as a crown made in a dental lab.
Either way, it can be fixed. Good luck!

Those are all great questions for your dentist. Several months ago, I had a crown replaced on a tooth. I had the root canal on it 20 years ago. After they put the new crown on, I experienced pain when I bit down on anything and when I flossed. Sometimes when I brushed. Of course I returned to my dentist. Actually a couple of times. I was concerned about the possibility of an infection but he did X-rays and that was not the case. He told me that sometimes there's mild pain as the bones, nerves etc adjust to the new crown. Told me to give it time. The pain did stop but I think that took about 3 months after the crown went on. Go back to your dentist and let him or her look at it.

I would strongely call the dentist or endo dontist that did the procedure. I think you should be seen definitely. My brother was a dentist. Just my opinion..... I hope it was an endodontist that did the procedure (of course you can't change anything now if done by a dentist. There is a difference. An endodontist is specially trained doing root canals. A dentist can do them...but..
Either way...have it checked out. It may be fine...but to ease your mind. one way to the other...I would check it out.
Good luck to you...I hope everything works out for you.

@Skyegirl21 You need to be asking your dentist this question and right away before the crown pops off completely - and yeah it can do that.
