Separate your situation from your daughter's, it's irrelevant to what she is going through.  I don't really what your question is, I do know that they didn't order imaging so someone can make some money.  They order the CT because she has a UTI that has not responded to the antibiotics so they want to see if she her UTI is caused by kidney stones.  If she does have kidney stones then they want see if there is a blockage and they might change her antibiotics or remove the stones. The CT scan is valuable diagnostic tool and yes, this is what they do in situations like your daughters.  She should continue taking the antibiotics.

Maybe I should of said that my daughter's specimen was sent out for a culture.  The CT showed nothing wrong and our GP called her and said he's going to prescribe a different antibiotic for her.  She started last night and feels a little better today.  I know every antibiotic doesn't always work for everyone.  I've had my share of uti's and never was sent for a CT scan.  So she's glad she went cause they checked several organs and told her everything looks fine.  When she looks back she thinks she's had the infection for awhile and never put two and two together.  Said it wasn't like others she's had.  So hopefully this antibiotic will work. I still feel it was a little jumping the gun going for a CT scan.  A second antibiotic should of been given first.  What if she didn't have insurance, would they have sent her so fast for a CT scan.  Anyone remember when they didn't have CT scans?  The gave a different antibiotic.

sweetee2, yes years ago they did prescribe antibiotics for 14 days.  I saw a urologist for myself years ago because my gyn couldn't get rid of my infection.  The urologist said the infection kept changing so I was on antibiotics for almost a month and did get rid of it.  What matters is hopefully she'll be fine in a few days.
