I have T2 Diabetes. Tried ozempic and could not tolerate it. It was effective in lowering my A1C and I did lose weight as a nice side effect. I have been off it for over 6 months and my morning readings are about 20 points higher than when using it. So I met with my endo today for bloodwork etc. We talked about my numbers and ozempic effect both positive and negative. I like that it helped lower my A1C but didn't like the gastro intestinal effects it had on me. We talked of several meds including Trulicity. She shared that her patients had success with it and reported fewer gastrointestinal issues. Have any of you had experience with Trulicity and willing to share your experience? Thanks!

I've taken it for years with no adverse effects.  It's been a Godsend.  I had been taking Metformin and my dr wanted me to switch to insulin.  I suggested trying Trulicity and it worked.  My A1C has been under 6 for years.  I do still take Metformin though.  Trulicity is an add-on to whatever else you're taking - you don't take just Trulicity.

I've been told I could go off these meds since my numbers are so good but I like that I can eat what I want and my numbers are still great.

I also take Alpha Lipoc acid Berberine.

I don't have diabetes but I have been on Trulicity for 14 months.  My doctor prescribed Trulicity for weight loss.  It's a Glp-1 med and doctors are prescribing it off label for weight loss.  I chose Trulicity because it had fewer side effects than Ozempic and Mounjauro.  And it has been prescribed to Type 2 diabetics for 10 years.  Safety has been proven.  I have lost 70 lb.

Interesting post. I'm a Type 2 diabetic and took metformin for years as well. I no longer take any meds and my A1C was 5.7 when I saw my Dr on 9/25. I thought I could just eat what I wanted as long as I was taking the metformin but after having a right knee replacement in Sept 2019 and developing a staff infection, I had to have a second knee replacement after they removed the first replacement, had me using a walker and on home IV antibiotics which caused problems with my kidneys putting me in the hospital for a week and taken off metformin. I eventually had a second replacement but was never put back on metformin or any other meds so I decided to stop eating whatever I wanted, make a much better choice of diet and lost about 45lbs. Now I'm down to a size small and my daily fasting bs is under 100.   That experience was something I never want to go through again. I now mentor members of my church who have diabetes and want to make a change to get their diabetes more under control. We discuss diet and exercise and feedback has been great.  Congrads on your numbers being good !  My prior repeat surgery numbers were right at 6.3 but it's so much better now.  I'm no longer interested in eating "whatever I want"  I bake fish, eat turkey, veggies and occasional keto low carb chocolates from a company called "The no sugar company"  My doctor says I don't need to check my FBS every morning just 3 x's a week but I check daily just to keep myself on track. Best wishes that your numbers stay under 6

Goodie2Shoes  thanks and good for you too.  I don't need to lose weight - I lost 75 lbs years ago when first diagnosed and I've kept it off.   I eat fairly healthily - very little meat for starters.

For those with type 2 or even those who just want to lose weight why not change your eating habits and exercise? It infuriates me that everyone wants a free pass with their health. Taking a specific drug, for diabetes, to lose weight? Just adjust your lifestyle. Sure, I'm a type 1 but I was out of control with my weight a few years ago (even though I had excellent A1C readings) and I started a walking regime. I've lost 70 lbs and have kept it off. Yes, still walking today, not planning on regaining it. My A1C is 5.3 and has been since I began my healthy journey. This is something your doctor should be talking about. I'm sure my post will not be liked but just another perspective on this subject. JMO

Clearly you know that all these add on diabetic drugs are not for Type 1 Diabetics.

You should also know that T1 and T2 are different.

Why do you feel the need to chastise anyone that doesn't follow your rules.

Come on now.. nobody loses 70 pounds by just walking. Unless you adjusted your eating plan, you could not lose weight. But wait, Little secret all us Type 1 diabetics know, forgo a dose of insulin and voila!! 3 pounds gone in a couple of days. Unless you are a Type 2 yourself and because you need insulin you call yourself a Type 1?

Without a C peptide test telling just how much insulin they produce, Type 2 diabetics are not always going to not need meds to help them control their illness. Some Type 2 diabetics need meds because they fail to produce enough insulin. NO FAULT OF THEIR OWN

EITHER.

I have had Type 1 diabetes for 53 years and I chaired diabetic support groups for fifteen years. Anyone who understands diabetes knows that Type 2 diabetics suffer from hyperinsulinemia and that excess circulating insulin that doesn't work to bring down glucose levels builds fat. Not the fault of the patient!! Not a lack of will power but a metabolic disorder that often needs medication.🙄

You  showed how clueless and ignorant you are when it comes to diabetes and obesity.  Your experience is just YOUR experience.  It's not a matter of not liking your post.  It's a great post.  You just can't jump to the ridiculous conclusion that everyone on the planet can do what you did and have the same result.
