Total Knee Replacement Set-Back

To all who had a total knee replacement, I have a question. Yesterday, Monday Aug. 1 was exactly 8 weeks since my surgery. Up until about a week ago I was doing very well and improving steadily. About a week ago, I began to have a lot of pain and discomfort. I felt a lot of pressure, almost as though the implanted parts wanted to pop out of my skin, which I know is impossible. I kept doing well in therapy but my therapist suggested I call my doctor. Yesterday, I had an appointment and the surgeon said that for 8 weeks, I was too swollen. He also said that the area felt too warm for his liking. He sent me for an ultrasound to rule out a blood clot which, thank God, I do not have. He told me I have to wear my 'lovely' and 'stylish' TED hose during the day and to keep the leg elevated as much as possible. He also suggested modifying my therapy so my therapist is calling him to find out exactly what he wants done. He said that sometimes people do experience set-backs. I was just wondering if anyone else experienced any kind of a set-back. I am so disappointed as I was doing so well and was hoping to return to work in the Fall (I'm a substitute teacher). I guess that won't be happening.

I hope everyone is continuing to do well and I thank you in advance for any input you can share with me. God bless. docsgirl{#emotions_dlg.wub}
