 I only get top of the foot pain when I wear laced shoes. So I limit wearing tennies to my daily morning hour walk. They must come off then, can't wear them all day shopping, errands, dotor visits....

I thought I'd mention that QVC offers several types of footwear in the Spenco line. I have 3pr slip-on clogs and they are quite comfortable, with a metatarsal support built into the inner sole and a wide toebox that allows full toe movement. Spenco shoes remind me of Birkenstocks only with softer cork-lined insoles.

Think I'm going to have to make an appointment with a foot doctor.   I'm having pain on the top of my foot just below where your foot bends.  Anyone have any experience with this?  I tried Googling it and, from what I'm reading, it could be extensor tendonitis.   I notice if I wear shoes with laces it seems to make it worse unless I lace the shoe loosely.

Have had it for years.  Real bad in cold weather.  Use to use Ben gay.  Then hot and icy with lanocaine.  Now salonpas patch.  They all helped.  Mine is Arthritis.

I have had the same experience as two of the other posters.  One time my foot pain was from a ganglion cyst and one time it was from a stress fracture.  Both required medical attention - I think a visit to the doctor should be in your future.  Hope all goes well and you heal quickly!

@FastDogWalker2   Can you tell me how did they discover the ganglion cyst?   i  had an MRI and will get results when I see my dr next week .   Just wondered if it would show up on that.  I'm thinking a stress fracture would be seen on an MRI.

@ciao_bella

The foot is extremely complex in both structure and ability to diagnose.  However, the most common diagnosis when a patient presents with top of foot pain complaint is "compression fracture," especially if the pain is "pinpoint."

I'm not saying that's what your diagnosis will be, but you never know.  Get to a specialist and get those films done so you can find out.

Good luck!

Just found out @ my dr appointment yesterday  from my recent MRI  that my top if my foot pain is caused by arthritis in the middle top and bursitis near the outside top of the foot .  Dr said its from wear and tear through the years and the injury woke it up ! No more flip flops for me and I'm sad 😒.   Have to take care of my foot now.
