has anyone had this happen? First 2 years ago bite down on a chai seed that was in tortilla chips from Trader Joes. Have had pressure in that tooth off and on for over 2 yrs now. At first it was fine for 6 to 8 mos. now it seems to be getting worse. I had it looked at by my dentist and recently by an endodontist neither finds anything wrong , oh and it is a molar that has had a root canal procedure over 17 yrs ago. But told Xray looks greenest, no sign of crack or anything.
Now kind of a coincidence I bought a candy from again Trader joes at Christmas time called sponge candy , well it should be called rock hard candy !! I bite down on it on the side with my eye tooth and pain seared threw that tooth and has been sensitive since, no actual pain, just sensitive. Also had that tooth looked at by both my dentist and they Endodontist , nothing showing on that Xray or other testing they both did on both teeth came back normal.
Now yesterday I bite down on a seed in an orange and yet another molar is having dull pressure off and on all last night and today. I think I'm going to have to just stop eating and stop shopping at Trader Joe's. LoL. Seriously has anyone expierenced tooth pain that ended in loosing your tooth which is what I'm afraid of I certainly dont want to loose my teeth , and tired of worrying about what is going to happen or what's wrong as I'm told nothing is wrong but I have symtoms so something has to be ?
sorry for this being so long.😺

I had a molar that was sensitive and hurt when I bit down on it. Consequently, I chewed all my food on the other side of my mouth. That went on for a very long time. The dentist could not find anything wrong with the tooth. Then I got decay under the filling in that tooth. When the dentist removed the old filling he found a hairline crack inside the tooth that didn't show on an xray. He fixed the crack along with a new crown and the pain disappeared.

It sounds like a tooth fracture to me and for some reason X-rays aren't picking it up. But you shouldn't feel anything if you had a root canal.

I kept having a tooth, the dentist thought was just hitting another tooth and in the end, the root canal tooth fell out. Dentist had adjusted it when it first started acting up. The whole tooth fell out, screw and all. It was working it's way out. I bet the others are right and there is a hairline crack. My dentist thought that is what I might have when all this tooth stuff was going on, and that wasn't it at all. He's a good dentist too, for years, but I think this was a big "miss" in his area. Oh well.

You could be clenching your teeth at night and causing the pain
If it continues talk to your DDS about wearing a mouth guard at night.. You might try using tooth paste for sensative teeth

Yes, I had that very same thing happen to me. I bit into something hard with a molar with a silver filling and almost saw stars. It was very painful. The tooth keep hurting after that.
My dentist said that a filling in the tooth works like an a wedge. When it is pushed down hard enough, it will split the tooth and fracture it. Usually the fracture is a hair line and does not show up on X-rays.
My dentist removed the old filling and replaced it with a new one and I felt immediate relief. He said that if he did nothing and I continued to bite with that tooth that it would eventually crack the tooth in half.
I am not a fan of most doctors, but I love my dentist. He is really good and quite knowledgeable and he doesn’t rip anyone off by doing unnecessary work.
my brother had a root canal procedure, but the whole nerve wasn’t removed. Years later it flared up again and he lost the tooth.

@Carmie One of the molars has a root canal , the other has a crown , no root canal in that one.

@Scooby Doo That is what I was doing when I only had the one painful tooth . Now that I have one on both sides nowhere to chew lol. So is the problem.

That makes a lot of sense , one of the molars does have a small white filling. I will have to ask my dentist about this .
