I just walked for 45 min. at 6:30am my time. I'm in AZ. This morning at 6:30am, it was already 97 degrees. They expect a high today of 117! This is dangerous heat. I was drenched after my walk. I take a lot of water with me but still felt a bit dizzy when I got to my house. I think I'll walk the local mall the rest of this week in the morning.
I worry about the elderly here and animals left outside. July is usually our rainy month and it's not as hot but more humid. This is odd right now. 117 is unbearable. I noticed they canceled the landscaping crew this morning from my complex. Smart move.
It does amaze me though, as I'm out walking, there is always a few foolish people walking without water. If I didn't have my water, I'd have collapsed.
Stay safe everyone, heat is oppressive and dangerous.

This is the price we pay for not having earthquakes, hurricanes, sinkholes, and high property tax (!)
Tested the temp of my "cold" water tap this morning.........94.

Sounds like a great day to exercise in the pool!

...walking for 45 mins in 97 degree heat, even with water, is not something I would ever do.

Problem with the pools here, it's like bath water. When you get out you stay wet for like 2 min. You really can fry an egg on the cement here when it's that hot. There are also issues where the cement cracks and buckles from the heat.
I think I'll join the fitness club at the local community college. It's only $30 a month for the summer months. I don't like indoor gyms, but at least it's cooler and not dangerous. But then trying to get into your car that has been sitting out in the sun... no fun at all!

Common sense anyone????

I've been laid up for 3 months after an injury. I've missed walking so much. I have been an avid fitness walker for 30+ years... I tolerate the heat well, living here you develop that... but it's usually in the 80's this time of year in the morning hours.
I'm smart enough to know not to do it outside while it's still this hot. I'll go to the local mall tomorrow morning and walk laps there.

I use my air stepper in this kind of weather. This is not walking weather!

Since moving from Ohio to Florida, I have come to the realization that there is no perfect place to live. Every location has something about it that is not good -- earthquakes, hurricanes, tornadoes, reptiles, bugs, extreme heat or extreme cold, humidity, snowy winters, sinkholes, wildfires, floods, and so on.

Ahh, it is warm here in the east, but definitely not 97 @ 6:30!
Stay cool.
I don't have a treadmill (although I've had cheapie ones over the years and I'd like to finally purchase one that will last a lifetime-or thereabouts!), but I do belong to a local gym. I much prefer walking outside, though.
Stay cool everyone who is dealing with really high temps!
