@conlt wrote:@BlueFinch I used to take potassium until I want on a potassium sparing blood pressure medication. When I was on Potassium, I did not get leg cramps most nights. The other night was horrible, I ended up buying the Theraworx and so far so good but I have also been taking some mustard before bed. The mustard took my cramps away the other day.
You say "I used to take potassium"! Can you not get your potassium from foods you eat?
Lots of foods have plenty of potassium and a variety of fruits and vegetables. Several men I worked with had low potassium, most were also taking a diuretic type of Blood Pressure Prescription.
Being low in almost any mineral can lead to muscle spasms. I won't go into what I said in my other post, why?

@hckynut I do that too. Food/exercise is my first defense for health. Rarely, an acute temporary physical aliment occurs and can be relieved by a spray of magnesium. However, I live by your major premise....my diet offers and supports my health.

@conlt wrote:Has anyone tried Theraworx for prevention of night time leg cramps? I am curious of your opinions.
@conlt, I had very bad leg cramps. Took all kind of supplements and nothing helped. Recently, I got a Shatzu foot massager and haven't had ONE leg cramp since. Not a one.
You can use it on your feet. Also, you can sit and use it on your ankles, calves and ham strings.
I have used it every day since I got it. It also gives you a better and more restful night's sleep.

Theraworx is expensive ($20) and Dr Drew's instructions that you must use it everyday as a preventative just smacks of a scam. I've read the comments and honestly am surprised it works for anyone...so congratulations to those individuals but it didn't work for me but then again I refused to slather that stuff on my clean legs every night only to feel icky and cold afterward. I prefer a product that you use when the cramp presents and then feel better as a result which Theraworx did not do at all.

Any specific muscles that cramp, and what have you found that works for you? I seldom have spasms in any lower muscles, and I usually know exactly what caused them, and what breaks the spasm when necessary.

Theraworx has been a lifesaver for me as well. I use it only when I have a cramp and it works very well. I also stretch the muscle out to stop the cramp, it works but often the muscle is left feeling very sore and that's when I use the Theraworx. It's a great product and worth the price (was about $18 at WalMart).
I've had a tough time with leg cramps and cramps in general the last 6 months mainly from not staying properly hydrated. I've upped the water and electrolyte drinks and have turned things around.

Glad this works for you. Also happy you have upped your fluid. Dehydration seems to be a factor in people that have no health issues. Always been hard for me to understand why so many don't ingest enough fluid, like free H2o.
As for cramps(spasms)? The sooner the cramp is released, the less chance of residual muscle pain. Many shun releasing a calf cramp because the procedure increases the pain momentarily. The longer one waits/more muscle tissue involved? Leads to longer healing time.
For those not too physically active, this longer time my not bother them. For those of us more physically active, it is much more important.
Sounds like you got this under control and good for you.

My husband occasionally gets leg cramos and hand cramos. He swears by this stuff and he has never used more than 2 pumps and he said it works great!

So I have been using the Therworx for a couple of weeks now and I only had cramps when I forgot to put it on 1 night. So I am giving it a great big "it works for me". I found a larger size bottle on Sam's club website. I put it on my calves before bed and rest easy. So happy I tried this. Also, some asked about potassium. I used to take a supplement but because I am on potassium sparing antihypertensive I stay away from potassium supplements and foods high in potassium. The antihypertensive medication does not deplete potassium from my body.

Am I correct in assuming you are on a Blood Pressure Prescription Medication? Just curious as most just say "on a BP Med". Kinda like most say "I had a heart attack, not a Myocardial Infarction"!
From my backroom I know the calf has one of the shortest ranges of motion of all muscles. The female gender usually have more issues with calf cramps(spasms) then the males.
A lot of Specialists and Physical Therapists agree it is partly because of the "footwear" worn, and moreso "not worn(barefoot)".This shortens the calf muscles and unless regularly elongated?
Will keep this short, for me anyways!
Sounds like you found what works for you, and for many that's all that counts.
