Five years ago, about this time of year, my older son's wife was diagnosed with breast cancer. She had a lumpectomy, chemo and radiation. So far, she's doing great.

Last week, my younger son's wife was diagnosed with breast cancer. She is just beginning to see specialists, etc. so we don't know what stage she's in or anything.

We are all in shock. Both women were/are in their early 40's when diagnosed.

Prayers are appreciated.

Thanks!

Re: The second shoe dropped.

I am so very sorry to read this! I can't even begin to imagine how you all must be feeling.

Please know, di-mc, that I will be praying for both of your DILs and you as you care and help them during this difficult time.

Re: The second shoe dropped.

So very sorry for this terrible news in your life. A little prayer already said.

It seems to be everywhere and is frightening for all of us. No one seems ""safe.""

Hope it all turns out fine for your daughter-in-law.

Sorry to hear, but will keep positive thoughts & prayers. Hard when it hits home, but know that there has been great progress with this disease and so many women are doing great years later. I hope the absolute best for your DIL & your entire family.

Re: The second shoe dropped.

23 years ago one of my cousins was diagnosed with stage 3 BC - it runs in our family, sadly. She had 16 + lymph nodes. They did double mastectomies, 9 months of chemo, radiation and a bone marrow transplant. All in all she was 2 1/2 years being treated HOWEVER - it is now all these years later and she is well, healthy and sassy. They have made great advances with this disease.

Happy Housewife,

That's wonderful! Your cousin is a fabulous role model for anyone dealing with this. I'm sure her attitude played a major part in her recovery.
