Re: The bottom line. Limit interactions between people.

@proudlyfromNJ

N.J. gov on tv now giving a news conference.  No mention of curfew.   Matter of fact, he strongly said, NO CURFEWS.

No travelling on roads starting at 8 pm.   Only essential workers are allowed on the roads.

Everyone is to stay inside their home.  Every senior can have meals delivered to their home through a state program no matter your health condition or qualification FOR FREE.

All casinos, race tracks, gyms, movies will close up at 8 pm starting tonight.

Restaurants & bars closes at 8 pm.  They can stay open for "take-outs" only every day.

Grocery stores can stay open but hey have to close at 8 pm every day until further notice.

The governor was sort of mad.  Stated, "Business as usual has got to stop!!!!!!"  He actually shouted that comment every few minutes.

He said  something about free food programs for all seniors, disabled no matter of income or qualifications.  Unsure how that is going to work.  I know in my county there is Meals on Wheels.  Are they going to every neighborhood?  I live in a 55+ community.  I am hoping management will slip a letter under our doors come tomorrow morning.

They are now talking about setting up testing sites in every county.

National Guards have been called in.  Will be in every county.  faint.gif

178 "NEW" cases in NJ

1 "new" case in my county

@Mz iMac   hi mz iMac. Yes, 8 on the roads is what I meant by curfew. I assume walking and biking are ok. Same for us in NY. We like to eat out so I guess it will be take out for now!

Re: The bottom line. Limit interactions between people.

Just wondering.

Is no one concerned about ordering pick-up and who is making/preparing your meal in the restuarant you are ordering from?

I'm not a great cook and don't particularly like it, but I will be preparing my family's meals for now.

RE:  WalMart grocery pickup.

They are getting slammed in some areas.  I.E., we've used it for over 4 mos. and recommended to my sister in another state as she is short-term handicapped. She has been using it successfully.  Until Friday.

Placed her online order to be picked up by BIL.  Their WM is about 20 min. away, they coordinated it with BIL's dr. appt.  BIL arrived, called number, no answer (along with another patron).  Finally spoke to someone telling them to come back the next day at the same scheduled pickup time.

Sat.:  BIL drove over.  Again, no answer on phone.  More than a bit peeved, he phoned my sister.

SHE called & asked for the mgr.  Gave her a song-and-dance, until she asked why she hadn't been contacted by phone or email.

Mgr.: "We tried calling, but your phone is disconnected".

Sister:  "We've had this phone number for 40 yrs!"

Mgr:  "You're free to place another order".

Sister:  A new one?"

Mgr.: "Yes."

This may be an isolated incident at a badly run store, but I'M going to hold off on orders until things settle down (whenever that is.)

Re: The bottom line. Limit interactions between people.

There are two grocery stores in my town...one, small store...there is no delivery available, the other is Walmart, curbside is booked.  I am going to the grocery in the morning...the store opens at 6 am...I'll be there at 6:30.

@I am still oxox    There you go... I rest my case.  I know Walmart is doing both grocery delivery and pick-up.

I did a Walmart grocery pick-up on Saturday morning.  This is a Walmart Market, which is a large free-standing grocery-only type of Walmart.  Everything went smoothly, but then I was required to "sign" the electric hand held device (with my finger!) that everyone before me had signed.  So much for staying germ-free.  Of course I immediately used gel to wash my hands, but there ought to be another way to handle this.  I had ordered online and they already had my credit card number.  Next time I guess I'll wear disposable gloves.
