Wish I had the time to decode acronyms. I have no idea what this is about.

I have always been so positive about taking care of my health....diet, supplements, lifestyle.   But I have come to the conclusion that really no matter WHAT positive things you do....if the Grim Reaper is going to come for you...NOTHING is going to save you.  When your time is up.....it is over.

just enjoy your life for as long as can healthy....

@SeaMaiden

Those are lovely sentiments but...you drove the point home:

"...as long as can healthy.."

I'm interpreting that to say '..as long as you can be healthy.."

And that's the key.

Living people are 'dead' at 60-70-80...just waiting for the

'Grim Reaper'.  Lord...what a miserable life.  I want to thrive

until my last day & until my last breath.

And certain nutrition & lifestyle can make that happen.

Why would one want less?

@sidsmom Yes but "certain nutrition and lifestyle" simply can't make that happen.  It is absurd and against all reputable scientific and medical information to even suggest that.

@phoenixbrd

I have to admit I've been preoccupied & a pinch behind on my

conference videos....j.u.s.t finished watching Will Tuttle's presentation.

Wow. Wow. Wow.  I can see why you like him. He's very engaging.

I was taking notes & screenshots....veganic (new word).

I had the mental image his approach would be...'softer', but wow..

he laid it all out.  Animal agriculture is horrible on so many levels...

backyard farms to the large factory operations. And I liked how he

touched on every aspect...environmental, ethical, health & financial

benefits of going LOWFPB (new term!).

I've GOT to read The World Peace Diet.  Now!

Thanks, Little Leafy 🌿, for the thread notification. I learned a lot. 🌼

Re: The Real Truth About Health

I do know that you can take too many supplements and they do not make up for eating a crappy diet. Your best source for vitamins and minerals is in the foods you eat, but it is almost impossible to consume the amounts of certain things within a day. Now I read supplements and vitamins can be bad for you if you get too much of certain vitamins, like vitamin A.

Re: The Real Truth About Health

All of our past generations grew up in homes with asbestos-covered floors and housing, cribs with lead paint, etc. we grew up without seatbelts, bike helmets, and some vaccines. Second hand smoke was everywhere. Today, we are the sum of our past. I believe in the power of prayer. It is stronger than everything else.

@sidsmom   So happy you enjoyed him.  He travels the US as well as internationally, check his website with his schedule to see if he has a workshop in your area.  So inspirational!  His book is so informative, especially if wanting to know how we are so effected by the choices we/our governments make to sustain/destroy our lives/animals/environment.  He really destroys the illusion of back yard, small farms "organic, grass fed" that perpetuates the myth of a gentle life for our beautiful animals.  Wish so people would wake up...challenging to expose people to reality when they have already preconceived ideas and are bound by their cultural conditioning.

I loved the 10 day conference, it was very consuming but very informative and considering tweaking a couple of my habits.  I wish our high school students had access to this information. I couldn't help but think of some of the posters on this board realizing how much they could benefit with an open mind.  But I've learned not to push, just work on myself and hopefully be a role model, if possible, for those looking to live a vibrant life. I've dropped the judgment as a result of W. Tuttle.

Remember I told you about my journey for the New Year....I just completed a very challenging 31 days (wasn't sure I could accomplish) and taking 10 days to readjust.  (I'm not going to go into details here, due to blowback.  It takes studying the topic to understand the amazing process.  But I think you'll know if I say Tr_ _ North.)  This has consumed my life for the past month.

Love ya, sister.  So many amazing journeys in this life time!

Hey @BExplorer  Hope you were able to watch all the presenters.  Did you see Pam Popper and Brenda Davis? (I know @sidsmom was looking forward to their presentations.) These two insightful authors presented information backed up by science/research studies.  You expressed that you are interested in learning a lot about this lifestyle.  I went to Brenda Davis' website after the conference and found she had recipes listed on her website that you might enjoy. Some of her papers and charts are also freely available.

 I was truly excited and benefited by every talk and especially enjoyed the interaction of the panels.  So refreshing to learn that for most of us only 5% of our genetics determine our present state of health! I'm always impressed by these world renown surgeons and over the years are presenting evidence treating their patients who are requiring life threatening surgery being healed with this lifestyle. The evidence is long-term.  I'm an evidence person and want to see the science....and it was presented in spades. Even though each author gave their perspective on this lifestyle...there was an underpinning of unity, brotherhood, and a common foundation.

If you missed any of the talks/panels, it is my understanding that they will be up on YT for a few weeks.  I hope you are doing well and this presentation gave you some motivation/inspiration to apply this beautiful way of life.  Much vibrant health!

Re: The Real Truth About Health

Hi @phoenixbrd !  I did see Pam Popper, Esselstyn, Campbell, Fuhrman, and part of Davis' presentations and thoroughly enjoyed them!  I will definitely you tube Tuttle's and maybe a few others I wanted to catch but didn't.  I have not heard Will Tuttle but am looking forward to hearing him.

I am am hoping next year's conference date and location will be known soon.  I will seriously consider attending, that would be so motivating for me!  Thanks for the tip to check out Brenda Davis' website for recipes.  I have made a few dishes out of an old McDougall cookbook recently and really like them, especially the Pad Thai and the Tofu with Cashews.

I do find it quite troublesome that most physicians seem to have no clue about food as medicine, but prescribe medications and perform procedures that could be avoided.

I do do hope your time spent recently that you mentioned a couple of posts back was simply to immerse yourself in your healthy lifestyle. 🌷

Re: The Real Truth About Health

@BExplorer

Dr. Pam Popper has an active YouTube channel, uploading videos

every T/TH where she reports on current topics & current studies.

@phoenixbrd

Yes the 'must be my genetics' mantra is repeated over & over

when in reality it's such a small %.

Like the saying goes...(I think it was McDougall who said this)

it's not Family Genetics but Family Habits.

Though, I've read somewhere (maybe it was Ornish) that as our

bad habits are actually changing our microbiome & telomeres...

and over much time, maybe the saying 'it's my genetics!'

could be true...but not at the present.

Don't y'all love Brenda Davis' little squeaky voice?!
I love her presentations. 🌼

Re: The Real Truth About Health

@BExplorer   Your delicious meals sound so yummy!  So many possibilities open to us living this lifestyle!  Yes, wouldn't it be fun to have attended this conference?  Three meals provided as well as world-class speakers, all free!  Amazing.  Will Tuttle is so knowledgeable and passionate about his life's work.  If you ever get the chance to attend one of his workshops....don't miss the opportunity!  You will learn so much watching his conference and panel presentation.  (Just to watch his interaction with others is a life lesson.)  He has had an influence on my life on many levels.

Yes, we have to do our research and take responsibility for ourselves.  The Physician's for Responsible Medicine is making exciting inroads.  Kaiser has had several physician's trained in this lifestyle, but I'm not sure to what degree their hands are tied....but a good sign for sure!

Yes, I completed my challenge!  It taught me so much and excellent results.  I'm going through the transition from that experience.  Looking forward to integrating other goals for this year in my life!  Take good care and wishing you the best of health!
