@Ibby114 True, you are correct. They are cancelled off the last day of their of their birthday month. I should have said 25 year olds..not 26.

They are all cancelled off disabled or not.

Are there 1 or 2 of symptoms that should cause more concern for a person's child? I recently checked to see what flu symptoms are the same as the ******* Virus and found that number to be 9 for children and even more for us older ones.

Kinda hard for me to figure how any lay person can figure out 1 from the other. It was several years ago during my annual GP physical where I told my Doc I felt fine, except for a sinus blockage.

He decided to do the "run the swab up my nose out the back of my head test". First time I knew it even existed. Came back negative. I thanked him for giving me that "pleasure ". 😠

@hckynut I know Mich Med has a nurse triage to determine who needs to get a test. Results are given within 24 hours.

My son has bought private tests he can take at home for about $120. He has taken 3 tests, one after each vacay.

Taking a private test does not take away from resources because there is no central entity in charge of the inventory or control.

I did not know that and thank you for that information. How difficult is it to buy those tests, and does that depend on where a person lives?

It would be great if they were more readily available and at a much lower cost. I believe that would go a long way in helping many that are having major stress over this issue.

@hckynut There are several available if you Google "private test at home covid." You buy them with your credit card, they then mail them to you. You do the test and mail it to them for results. Results in about 2 days.

Around here the CVS gives free tests at the drive in window to people with symptoms. See their website for locations near you. You need to make an appt. Results in about 2 days.

The insurance industry did not come up with the idea to allow 26 year old adults to be still considered children.

This is a mandated benefit attached to the Affordable Care Act and HIPAA.

I have seen married couples who each had health insurance benefits under their parents contracts. Crazy, for sure.
@Carmie My insurance company requires me to complete an annual statement about the 'potential other coverage' for my 25 yr old before they approve any claims! So those married couples are not adhering to the ACA guidelines.
Oh yes they are. Our government mandated that insurance companies must cover these adult children to age 26...no questions asked.

This rule does not apply to self ensured companies. There are many employers out there...often they are government based who are self ensured. That means they hire insurance companies to process and service their insurance, but do not actually buy insurance from them. These groups do not have to follow mandated rules. They are the only exception.

That's me. My DH works for the city and they are self-insured. Because of that, they don't have to follow ACA guidelines so my mammograms aren't free, my yearly wellness exams aren't free, etc.

My granddaughter came down with a cold and had to be tested (she was negative). As she has two sisters, of course they all got the cold and were out of school. Someone in the twins K class tested positive so they had to do only virtual learning.

Teachers do have union contracts that guarantees their safety in many ways. There are work safety laws within states, too. I assume lawyers on both sides are sorting it all out.

@KarenQVC I am not willing to "help them along until they are 26." Putting the burden of insuring these adult kids still at home on the parents employer is wrong. Just another type of entitlement.

Many of my co-workers moaned to me about student loans, when it was time to pay. I told them to tell someone who cares. They chose to go, you and maybe them, signed to repay, not me.

I agree, @hckynut . They wanted to go. They took on the financial responsibility. My DH had his own business. He bought many, many trucks.....a fleet. Heavy duty trucks. He went to the bank, borrowed, and paid it back. He didn't go to college. That was his choice. It was his choice to take on debt to expand his business.

There isn't a whole lot of difference. If you want something bad enough, you don't have the funds, you borrow with full knowledge that it is your responsibility to pay back.

There is no, nor should there be a free ride. No one owes you financial support. So many people have lost that drive to accomplish on their own and enjoy the fruits of their labors......without a handout.
