I have two permanent bridges in the back on the top. X-rays a couple of weeks ago showed decay under them. Long story short, tomorrow at 5:00pm, seems late but whatever, I begin a procedure that starts with getting the bridges off and 6 extractions, or maybe it was 7! I forget all the details because I was too shocky about the whole thing when he explained but he's going to "fix" me in such a way that I won't have a partial w/a thing across the top of my mouth. It's going to be about 2 months before I have teeth back there. The first month is just for healing. Guess I'm going to be surviving on yogurt & applesauce & soup for quite some time. I wish he could just take off the permanent bridges, fix the decay and put them back on but for there are a couple of reasons why he can't. My anxiety level about tomorrow is building to the point where I might need to be darted.

I feel so bad for you. Saying a prayer your antibiotic will kick in soon and bring you relief. Thank you for being so thoughtful in spite of your suffering to give me good wishes.

@sophiamarie It is 8 PM.....I took two codine( from my stash) and am feeling a bit of relief.  My neck is sore and the lymph gland on the side where my tooth is is huge. Hopefully the antibiotics will be kicking in by tomorrow. This is the best I have felt all day.

Goodnight everyone.  I will update through to Thursday after the root canal.

I have a root canal scheduled for Thursday Morning at 8Am... until then I have to hang in there and suffer with a terrible toothache for today and tomorrow.... I am miserable.. taking aspirin, Tylenol, codeine... rotating them as to not over medicate. but  even that is not stopping the pain...... my sleep last night was terrible... it just throbs and aches so bad no matter what I do.   can not chew or eat...

I guess there really is nothing to help... maybe just some sympathy is all  I am looking for......  This is the worst pain.

Bless your heart, that just makes me weak in the knees, because, yeh, I think it's a horrible pain too. Hope for the best for you and that tomorrow morning comes quickly for your sake. @SeaMaiden.

UPDATE....home From my appointment....still in pain. So much drainage and inflamation that he could not do the whole  procedure today.....  I will go back next Wednesday and he will finish it. He put some antibacterial in the tooth. Hopefully in the day or two I will feel better.... He said the swelling should go down, but if it doesn't, I will take some steroids for a couple days. Hopefully it will not come to that.  I feel awful right now, took some more pain meds and hope they kick in.   Not fun.....good for losing a few pounds though. Tomorrow will be four days no food.... with no appetite....my jaw is too sore to chew and open.

will update again tomorrow hopefully with good news.  Thanks for all the kind words. Smiley Happy

Oh Lordy. Was so hoping you'd be much better. I wonder if it was Arestin that he put up in there. If so, have had that treatment and it works very nicely for infections. Well whatever he used between that and staying on the antibiotic here's crossing fingers & toes that by this evening you'll notice a difference. Even though you have no appetite you should try to open your mouth as far as you can just to spoon soft foods in, applesauce, yogurt, stuff like that, you need some nourishment.
