Re: Taking antibiotics before dental work?

One year after I had a femur fracture surgically repaired with 3 pins my dentist wanted my surgeon to give me clearance before he would do a routine cleaning on me without antibiotics.  My surgeon did give clearance but I researched the issue and 2 years seems to be a standard for other types of surgeries such as knee replacement.  I wanted to be absolutely sure so I waited a year and a half before the cleaning.  I can't take antibiotics unless it's a life or death situation so it was in my best interest to wait for the cleaning.

Regular dental work, no. My son is scheduled for oral surgery soon and was given antibiotics to be taken before and after the procedure.

Re: Taking antibiotics before dental work?

I always take preventative measures so I get the anitbiodics before any treatments since it is the safest way to go.

I had a MRSA infection that almost killed me so now I know better.
