I"ve been taking Trazadone for over 20 years as a sleep aid.  More often then not I take 50 mg.  Sometimes on the weekend I will take 100 just to sleep longer.  No side effects and never groggy in the am.

The dose for treating depression is generally higher than the typical dose prescribed as a sleeping agent.  Of course,  for sleep, the dose may only be taken, as needed, whereas for depression, daily dosing is required.  In both cases, this medication is very well tolerated.

Trazodone for sleep was a standing order for many of my hospitalized patients due to its low risk (for side effects and dependence), compared to other classes of meds.

It was rare, when I had a patient who said Trazodone did not assist with sleep, at all, unless they had a high tolerance due to prior controlled substances, or street drugs.

I have never used street drugs and the only time I used controlled substances was after surgeries and that has been years. I was given trazodone earlier this year for sleep. Like an idiot I tried it 3 different times. It keeps me up and honestly just makes me feel very strange.

I wish it had worked for me as well as a lot of folks say it has for them.
