Vitamin E can be dangerous for anyone taking a Blood Thinner. Those vitamins sound innocent, but the one I mentioned has to be watched by anyone on a Blood Thinner Prescription.
Just some info.

I provide the latest list of my supplements and meds every annual doc visit. I agree you should adjust according to blood work results, but why do I want to find out about a deficiency after blood work? Then, I have to repeat the test in a couple of months. Yuck. My doctor is willing to discuss supplements anytime I have a question. For instance, I asked her about taking CO-Q10 since I take statin drugs, and she said to take the best quality I could find, or don't bother. I'm of the opinion that not all supplements are created equal. I do as much research as I can, and it's common for me to switch brands when necessary. And, YES, eating right is the key in making all this work.

OK. So, after posting the above I get an email today from my favorite doc, Dr. Mirkin. It's only fair to post his latest recommedation on supplements:
There is no scientific evidence that vitamin or mineral pills prevent dementia, heart attacks or chronic diseases in the general population. Micronutrients in food are typically better absorbed by the body than those from pills, so I do not recommend taking vitamin pills, mineral pills or other supplements unless you and your doctor have identified a special need such as those listed above. A lousy diet with supplements is still a lousy diet. Since nobody knows all the chemical reactions that go on in your body, I recommend that you follow what most scientists consider to be healthful lifestyle habits (including diet), and not depend on pills that have more questions than answers.
• exercise
• eat lots of vegetables, fruits, and seeds (nuts, beans, whole grains)
• restrict sugar-added foods and drinks, red meat, processed meats and fried foods
• avoid overweight
• avoid all forms of tobacco
• restrict or avoid alcohol
• avoid recreational drugs and unnecessary prescription drugs

I’ve never heard of Dr. Mirkin but I just checked out his website.
Like his thoughts on lower fat in the diet...and higher veg/grains.
Subscribing to his newsletter. Thanks for mentioning.

Yes,I take astaxanthin 12mg a day and I wouldn't EVER be without it. I have RA and it helps with inflammation I also take Olive Leaf Extract 750mg a day. I do not take any pharmaceutical medication. My RA is a 100 times better than it's ever been because I refuse to take the doctors medications. My doctor has done all my blood work and can't believe how well I'm doing.
Also, my husband, mother, brother, nephew and two of my cousins take it as welll, they all take the olive leaf as well because it helps so you don't get cold and flu and for inflammation and blood pressure. Both have a whole host of good things that can help you with.

I am a retired lab tech. I worked in a lab where blood was tested for many things. There are only a few standardized tests for measuring levels of certain vitamins and minerals in the blood, for example vitamins D, B12 and iron, to name a few. Most all other vitamin and mineral tests have no such standardization and what constitutes 'normal levels' have not been established within the medical guidelines for lab testing. This means there are no accurate or precise ways to test for specific vitamin or mineral deficiencies. If you have ever had a 'vitamin panel' performed on your blood then the results can be very different from what other labs might find. Standardization of lab testing for vitamin/mineral levels is severely lacking because establishing baselines is practically impossible.
I haven't forgotten about asking my friend for you about where to buy reasonably priced doggie supps. My friend has been away and I have not spoken with her but when I see her again I will find out for you.![]()

Omega-3 supplementation ... not enough evidence to support that it has any benefits.

CVS, works fine for me. Because my Blood Tests indicate that is the right dosage for me.
