My recent heart attack was blamed on Meloxicam.  I don't know how the cardiologist could say that with any certainty.  I have other risk factors.  But, I can no longer take that drug or any NSAIDS.   My hands HURT!  I can not take turmeric.  It actually causes inflammation :/  What are your tried and true supplements for inflammation?

Thank you

Re: Supplements for Arthritis

@monicakm.  After years of taking a very effective NSAID, I was ordered off of it forever.  I've tried alternate prescription drugs, even controlled substances and OTC drugs.  Voltaren gel helps very temporarily.  Everything else has unpleasant side-effects or isn't effective.  A non-inflamatory diet helps some.  I do a lot of grinning and bearing it.

We need a new class of pain relieving drugs.

Have you asked your cardiologist or rheumatologist about this?

Of course I have but I'm also asking here as we all do on these forums.  The drug he wrote a prescription for was $1,700 a month. Nooo thank you.

Do you remember the drug Darvocet? I think it was the weaker version of Darvon??? That worked so well for my fibromyalgia. Then they took it off the market. There's not been anything like it since. If it had any unwanted side effects, I wasn't aware of them.  Arthrotec is good for maybe two or three days and then it also causes swelling in my ankles/feet and hands (sigh).

Re: Supplements for Arthritis

astaxanthin and resveratrol. they are highly recommended natural anti-inflammatory supplements. I have taken them both for many years and can really tell a difference in my hand and thumb pain if I allow myself to run out of them.

@monicakm

I have Lupus and arthritis and I take a magnesium supplement that helps with inflammation. You might mention it to your doctor and give it a try if the doctor has no objections. ❤️

Re: Supplements for Arthritis

I've been on Meloxicam for several years but never had any problems thank goodness ! As a matter of fact at my next annual visit next month I plan to discuss with my MD because I don't think it's helping my back issues anymore plus I have also been having right knee and leg pain all post that 2nd knee replacement of 2020. PT a few months ago didn't do much good. I haven't tried it but I have heard that Bioflex helps but check with your physician.

  I take magnesium glycinate.  There are so many magnesiums.  Which mag do you take?

I'm sorry you're having so much pain.  I can empathize.

My husband takes Osteo Biflex.  It has an ingredient my body doesn't like.  It's either the glucosamine or chondroitin.

I take this but I don't think it does anything for my hands/knuckles.

I want my Meloxicam!  I was having enough pain a couple of days ago that I took two ibuprofen.  Heart Dr said "Every once in a while".
