How exciting to have the Pro Bowl and the Super Bowl all in a 7 day time frame!!!

Arizona is a beautiful state to be in this time of the year.

Plus Tiger Woods is in the valley for the Phoenix Open.

I think people congregate in Scottsdale because it's more fashionable than Peoria and N. Phoenix. Or not?

I don't know about ""fashionable"".........but we've always had this East Side/West Side rivalry !!!!!

They're trying to build a new resort/casino in Glendale but our esteemed (?) senators are in the pockets of the Indian tribes on the east and south side who are totally against a casino on the west side. This has been in the courts many times, millions have been spent and the courts have, each time, sided with the tribe who wants to build. Our senators are pushing a bill through Congress to stop the building of the resort/casino and since they are republican, they'll probably get it through. They want to keep the money on the east side (Scottsdale, Fountain Hills) and not allow Glendale to recoup any of the monies that they have to pay to hold these events. It's outrageous what Glendale has to pay the NFL to hold the Superbowl here. I will not patronize the casinos on the east and south side. I will drive to Laughlin or Vegas until they get the casino/resort built.

Here in Sun City the streets are slow and the restaurants are not crowded so anyone reading this, come on over and join us.

Gabby,

I hear you. I know what Senators you're talking about and agree totally. They will (in AZ) get what they want. The new Governor is no better. I live in the E. Valley and Scottsdale has changed so much from when I moved here 35 years ago. The people here are spoiled and most have come from somewhere else and just want to throw their money around.

Enjoy Sun City... such a nice community!!!

It's a shame that the Phoenix Open is hardly getting any press. I'd rather go watch golf than go to the NFL activities.

I'm in Cave Creek. No crowds out here except the yearly snowbirds. Once again it will rain during the golf tournament, happens every year. We can go months without rain but once the golf tournament comes, it brings the rain, lol. Scottsdale will be busy for sure. The crowds will party there. I was talking to a Boulders employee today. He said people will start arriving in full force today. He is not looking forward to the busy week, lol.

It's odd that both teams are staying in the far E. Valley. I bet some of the Scottsdale hotels feel snubbed.

You're right about raining on the Phx Open... either that or it freezes.

{#emotions_dlg.thumbup1} I agree Daring.

The Superbowl just brings out far too many characters. It's an awful week for the locals in in a Superbowl host city. Even the players coaches of the two teams will be glad when they leave the pressure of family and hangers on crowding them, and move to their supposed to be secret locations on Friday.

I'm in Goodyear near Luke AFB and it's a bit crowded. It seems there is more action coming from the base (from what I am hearing in the sky). I do think it's all exciting though!.

Enjoy it now as next year the Superbowl will played elsewhere.

Wrong is still wrong just because you benefited from it.
